This was in use in the classroom I observed during Winter Quarter. It was an excellent tool for the teacher to use, not only to post grades, but to offer kids study guides, etc., that they could access from home. They could also log on from home to complete lessons, etc. And, best of all, it is FREE. With school's on such tight budgets, free products are excelent!

Interesting experiment on customized learning.  

For all the amazing technology developed by and for American defense and intelligence agencies, the government's spooks are apparently lagging way behind in one key area: Smartphones. That means no mobile email or Angry Birds for our nation's spy corps. One NSA agent is trying to change that.

How intelligent can artificial intelligence get?  

Student response systems, as we have previously used in class, are spreading throughout education. This is a great tool that is being used to get every student involved in class discussion, and it is also being used in some instances rather than paper quizzes.

This article talks about the increasing numbers of teachers who are using Twitter, and how they are using it as another tool for the classroom.

How can the power of gaming be used to increase learning?  

This article talks about how technology is not bad for young children as so many have it integrated into their lives from a very young age. It also give some guidelines for integrating technology into classrooms with young children.

A great example of disrupting class with technology! 

This is an awesome article on how you can move away from traditional teaching practices such as drill and practice which kids do not like and do something fun such as letting them play games to learn and practice the skills they need.

Oh yeah!  Star Wars has arrived.  Just imagine the possibilities for this technology in the classroom.  Can you just imagine having world famous leaders from every discipline recording a 3D hologram session and then being able to "invite" them to your classroom.  Could lead to a whole new download section in iTunes....

Microsoft Office or Google Docs?

I think this is a great article because it is about a real life teacher utilizing technology in a real live classroom. So many articles are full of theories or opinions of people that are not in the classroom. It is nice to get a teachers perspective and how technology actually helped her.

An Arizona elementary school is beefing up its technology toolbox with a new multimedia curriculum in an effort to engage students, teach 21st century skills, and, hopefully, help boost academic achievement. Valerie Gresser wasn't satisfied with the way her students were learning.

A mother in Akron, Ohio lied on documents to send her kids to another school for a "better education." A local judge has charged her with a felony and she may loose the teaching license she has almost attained from the University of Akron.

The nation's students are still lagging behing in science.

With enrollement shooting up of those students that have limited English skills, technology can help to imporve their ability to suceed in school.

This is an interesting court decision regarding the use of social media.  I find the decision that socia media is now considered a part of normal conversation an important line drawn in the sand.  I wonder if this decision was made before the "drunken pirate" issue with the young student teacher being denied her licence if there would have been a change in her ruling.
