Google Play for Education is not just a new search engine.  Google is poising itself to compete with Apple in the Education market.  Really like that apps can be pushed out across multiple devices with one click.  

The reason why I chose this article is because of the picture. It shows what they think technology will be like in eduction by 2040.

This in a great article with examples of how beneficial technology is in the classroom. You get great visuals and explanations of how technology is being utilized.

This was an interesting article that showed off many interesting things that can help students become more engaged in what is going on. The article gives a good summary of the different technologies used and more importantly how it helps students better understand what subject it pertains to.

I loved the idea of using language exchanges through technology.

I really like this article because it addresses the need for learning to be relevant to the students. It is important for students to use what they have learned and technology provides a great outlet for that use.

Reading this article made me get excited about the possibilities of teaching with creativity and application. I agree with the author when she wrote, "I'd rather know that my kids were creating something of meaning, value, and I hope, beauty for people other than just their teachers, and that those creations had the opportunity to live in the world. That they were thinking hard about audience. That they were learning how to network and collaborate with others. That they were developing "proficiency with the tools of technology," learning to "design and share information for global communities to meet a variety of purposes," and becoming literate in the process. Real work for real audiences is, of course, hard to find in the current standardized testing regime." I could not have said it better myself! It seems that employers are looking for people who possess the quality of "working well with others". This new integrated classroom setup would allow for so many different learners to excel! Incredible article!

I enjoyed this article but also disagreed with it due to the fact that it is not possible for most students to complete some of these because they may not have access to a computer. They are great ideas but you have to look at your students before making it an assignment.

This article makes a connection between technology and the culture that students live in. By understanding the culture and background that people have been exposed to through technology and its advances, they can be more prepared to think critically about its use and application in their lives.

With the help of modern technology, students at the Charlotte Jewish Day School are talking to and learning from kids all over the world. Elementary students in Charlotte are going "global" with a technology initiative that links them to students from around the world.

This article talks about how elementary students are talking and learning with kids all a crossed the world! The students at the Charlotte Jewish Day School meet once a week with their teacher and they go through video and an online and ePal program! I have heard of schools doing this with high school students but never with elementary children! I think this is a great way for students to communicate with each other and what an awesome experience to talk to someone in another country! I bet they could/have learn a lot from each other!

This article describes various ways that students with disabilities can benefit from technology in the classroom. It not only explains opinions about assistive technology for special needs students, but also incorporates the legal aspect of including assistive devices in the classroom for children with disabilities.

I love Pinterest, it is one of my many obsessions so immediately I was attracted to this article. I believe Pinterest is an extremely useful tool, especially in a classroom. I use it mainly for crafting and creating, rather than news and media things, so rarely will I ever be worrying about copyright issues. I do understand, however, that it can cause some major issues. I don't believe I will have students necessarily be using this site, it will be more for my use. Pinterest offers great ideas through personal blogs that others share for the public use. This article showed me that there are consequences that come with some of the criteria though.

This article addresses a lot of concerns and questions with technology in education. It talks about schools that have a device for every individual student as well as the challenge of students bringing their own devises from home. It also reiterates that teachers are very important in leading this shift into a more technological classroom and school environment and how teachers can learn also from each other and students. 

At first I didn't think I was going to find this article useful, but after reading through it, I really enjoyed it. I really like how it took a side that asked questions, but also addressed the concerns. I feel like this was a different way of examining the topic of educational technology.

This article is about how technology should be integrated into the classroom and how different technologies can better the learning experiences for students.

I like incorporating various forms of technology into science lessons, like exploration and sites that have a web cam for viewing things that we couldn't access on a field trip.

I agree with Cody. Why is it that schools are lacking in the technology department when it effects our lives so much?

I have met some of the best and worst people through pen pal writing, so guess what I hope for my future students to do (especially when we get to the Jane Austen stuff)? I love it when I hear of English teachers that incorporate pen pal writing into their lesson plans, especially if the recievers of the pen pal writing are from foriegn lands. Not only are they taking a stab at their English skills, but dealing with different kinds of people of different cultures. The different kinds of people that were talked about in this article were eighth grades becoming pen pals with senior citizens. Some just did the homework, other ended up making long lasting friendships.

A private liberal arts college in Oregon took Apple's iPad through its paces to test its value as a a tool for learning inside the classroom and out. The evaluation followed a pilot of Amazon's first-generation Kindle, which the college eventually decided against. Reed College is trying to find a way to go completely paperless in it's classrooms. It is interesting to note that this professor feels that students would be less likely to check email or log onto social networking sites on an ipad because they are smaller and more difficult to hide behind than a laptop.
