This website gives instructions and templates for storyboarding, a crucial prestep to using any tool to make a story, text, audio, or video. Students produce much superior products when they storyboard first. This is part of a learner-centered curriculum on digitalstorytelling, not a how to manual or part of a technology-centered curriculum, although technology tools can be used to create storyboards (one can also use paper templates).

This wiki is a collection of many resources for creating lessons incorporating digitalstorytelling.  The tools here are technology-centered - it is up to the teacher to use the tools in a learner-centered manner. 

Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Digital stories can vary in length, but most of the stories used in education typically last between two and ten minutes. And the topics that are used in Digital Storytelling range from personal tales to the recounting of historical events, from exploring life in one's own community to the search for life in other corners of the universe, and literally, everything in between. It is at the essential level of cognitive processing, providing a large overview of the process of creating a VoiceThread, its purposes, assessment, and more. Although it is a bit out-dated in format (lots of scrolling), the number of examples and resources (including sample rubrics, student handouts, etc.) make it one of the better sites for using VoiceThread in education I've found.

The site shares several powerful examples and offers some great reflection by its author on the assessment process, including students' self-assessments.

The site is generative in that it prompts the reader to apply the learning with some quality story prompts. It breaks the process into 10 basic steps, and it includes storyboard samples, needed hardware/software, publishing tips, and more.
