These resources and training materials will be very helpful for individuals beginning to use interwrite workspace. I especially like the beginning videos found at http://www.einstruction.com/support_downloads/training/workspace.html# These are the most applicable videos to my school system and the 21st century classrooms that we currently have. I chose to use the interwrite technology because this is what we use in my school system.

Health and Community Services - 0 views

  •
My topic is Community Service and Work Place Learning. The first website including multimedia artifacts is http://hcscareers.vic.edu.au/index.php?page=Occupations-A-Z. This site includes opportunities for behavioral and physical activity. By using the career quiz as a hook or a preassessment, students are able to reflect on their career of choice. The cognitive artifacts include videos related to each occupation. As stated by Mayer (2009), learning comes from cognitive activity, and the videos describing each job in its natural state allows for active processing. The site encompasses cognitive and physical activity that supports active learning from the hook presented on the home page to the opportunity to develop personal profiles and resumes.

You Are Your Words - 1 views

  •
You are your words allows learners to create images made of words. The depiction starts with a self-selected portrait oriented image, then the addition of words that fill to create a shaded silhouette of the picture. The active engagement required focus on cognitive activity as the learner designed words to pictorially aid human cognition. This is accomplishing learner-centered learning by adapting multimedia technology to show how the human mind works (Mayer, 2009, p. 15). Mayer, R. E. (2009). Multimedia learning (2nd ed.). Cambridge, MA: Cambridge University Press.

iPad: It's all elementary - 0 views

  •
This Web site contains articles and videos to demonstrate the usage of the iPad in K-2nd grade, as well as in Science and Art classes. Additionally, there are an array of apps listed that students could use to assist them in learning the necessary content. Some of the apps listed are free, while others are very expensive (less than $5.00). The apps make for a learner centered approach to learning, as the information can be as simple or as complex as needed to reach an array of learners. Because of this, the active engagement required focuses on cognitive activity.

Tablets and iPads - 0 views

  •
This Web site includes a collection of resources (articles, blogs, podcasts, and presentations) related to the significance of tablets and iPads in K-12 and higher education institutions. One article in particular discusses seven things that users need to know in using iPad apps in education (http://net.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/ELI7069.pdf). The scenario provided in the article makes for a learner centered approach to learning, as the iPad is simply used to enhance student's natural learning in identifying stars and constellations. Additionally, the active engagement required focuses on cognitive activity.

Module 1-1: Classroom Organization - 0 views

  •
This website has various resources for teachers who wish to organize their classrooms. The website focuses on behavioral activity since many of the suggestions are projected to result in the teacher feeling less overwhelmed upon implementing these suggested ideas. There is clearly what Mayer (2009) would refer to as a learner-centered design since many of the included links focus on how learners can play an active role in contributing to classroom organization. Furthermore, there are suggestions with regards to how various items should be placed to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students.
