Try Freehand Mind Mapping With MindBoard Free - 2 views

  •
"A mind mapping application for Android devices. The app allows you to create mind maps through freehand drawing and or by typing on the screen. All of the mind maps that you create in MindBoard Free can be saved to your Google Drive account. Once the mind map is in your Google Drive account you can open it on any other device. One of the more thoughtful features of MindBoard Free is palm-input rejection which rejects accidental input from brushing your palm on the screen while writing."

Minds-On Toys - Kits - 6 views

  •
But perhaps the rarest thing about Digi-Comp is the combination of hands-on and minds-on fun it affords. It definitely still has things to teach*, like Boolean logic and problem-solving... and it's rewarding to build and use. That's why Minds-On Toys decided to reintroduce it in an affordable kit format, with a thorough and professional revamp of the original documentation.

Just ordered myself one of these for christmas, an elastic-band powered computer that comes as a DIY kit. I can hardly wait to turn up.

The value of a mind map may be in creating it, rather than in the product itself, but useful for inspiration perhaps?

10 Things in School That Should Be Obsolete | MindShift - 7 views

10 Things in School That Should Be Obsolete | MindShift http://t.co/oBFO5FD via @Diigo and @Stephen_H #VICpln PLLlead Another one of those lists but I suppose is good to keep in mind. The question is are these just wishful thinking? How do we get there? What is needed to get there? Are those that control the money and policy going to let us get there and if not how are we going to change their minds?

Fantastic use friendly site for creating mind maps of images / information online. Works almost in fairly similar way to prezi. Very easy to learn. Free sign up. Collaborate on mind maps with other people. You can select to be emailed daily, weekly or monthly changes to the popplet. Think you only have 5 free 'popplets' though :(

Women of Google+ - 8 views

  •
I started to collect a Google+ circle of women-only (aptly named 'Women of G+') and the idea of connecting with early adopter women in a new social networking platform is growing larger in my mind by the minute. I find it stimulating and refreshing to have a list of highly intelligent women on G+ to read every morning over coffee. Thanks for letting me take a peek into your brilliant minds.

This looks like a pretty good mindmapping tool.  I am not a huge fan of digital mind mapping but this looks the goods.

Mural.ly - 5 views

Mural.ly is a new tool (still in beta, launched last week) that is a cross between Prezi and mind maps. It's easy to use and share what you create (perfect for most students, teachers, and parents) but the real beauty of mural.ly is in its lack of structure.

The Three Fs for Using Technology in Education - Flexible, Familiar & Frequen... - 5 views

  •
"The idea of students sitting in front of PCs learning how to use Word is as dead as the proverbial dead parrot. It is already an antiquated model of learning - like chalk or fountain pens with ink-wells; it has a whiff of the twentieth century about it, rather than preparing our students for the future. Whilst the DfE dithers about what they should do with technology (Mr Gove clearly wants to reboot the chalk and talk bygone age), schools are left with a rapidly changing world, where budgets are at a premium and ICT often stretches what budgets now allow. All the while, students are learning on their iPads, Android tablets and smart phones, writing more in texts and tweets daily than in their collective writing experience during the school week. We aren't harnessing this expertise, never mind guiding it to a place of higher learning!"

What did the guy telling you to use Google Apps miss? | The Playable Classroom - 4 views

"The Internet might not be the place to send young people quite as easily as a few years ago. I realise this conflicts with the whole 'get a personal learning network/connected teacher' rhetoric - but I'm pretty sure those things are more concerned with creating advertising funnels for particular products and services than actually re-imagining how learning could work for millions of people. So apart from the fact you want to stay open-minded and allowed to think for yourself as a teacher - why else it is now more valid than ever to to think twice about 'getting onboarded'. The late adopter might just be the smart ones after all."
