"Streaming video websites are such a big part of our lives, it's hard to remember a time when they didn't exist. These websites revolutionized our computer video experience - no longer do we have to download every single video we want to watch - it's all right there! But the opposite is also true. Sometimes sending a link or embedding a video is not enough, and we need the actual file, or only its soundtrack. And when that happens, the default FLV file format rarely cuts it. Luckily, there are several downloaders-converters out there that make it easy as pie to download videos and convert them into almost every possible format."

Joe Dale posts an iPad idea/tip each day.  He normally posts a 1 - 2min audio clip that contains a useful tip on how to perform a certain function or use a particular feature of your iPad.  So far all the tips and tricks have been really good. If you subscribe you automatically get an email each day with a link to the idea/tip.  If you are interested I recommend you subscribe so you dont miss out on any of his idea/tips!

Advocates say that "flipped classrooms" help overburdened teachers differentiate their instruction to reach more learners, provide an avenue into more hands-on and student-driven learning during classtime, and shift the teacher's role from "sage on the stage" to learning coach and facilitator. Critics say it's just a fad, relies too heavily on rote instruction, and doesn't go far enough in making the needed changes for teaching and learning reform. Sometimes watching a video as a group is just what you need. Watch2gether does just that. This tool allows you to create your own, private screening room. Then share the room via a link with your group. They enter and you can watch the video, synced together. There is an option to create playlists and the chat feature works great for collaboration

While there will never be a replacement for a paper book with dog-eared pages, hand written notes in the margins, a broken spine and a proudly worn cover with a hint of dirt and stains, there is an exciting new option to transform the practice of reading to make it more social and collaborative.  Subtext is an intriguing iPad application that allows users to read books collaboratively.  While reading, participants can insert text, emotions, questions, links and thoughts into the margins of the book.  When other readers jump into the text they can see the notations and reply to the existing thoughts in a discussion thread that is neatly tucked away into the margins of the text.
