Mixed Ink - 2 views

This is a collaborative document creation website mainly used for groups collaborating on mission statements, news articles, press releases, product reviews, petitions, etc. Most documents on this site are related to politics. It would not be appropriate to use in a classroom setting or with children. However, it would be a good tool for parents or teachers to use if they are concerned about a children's product, some type of legislation, or a community issue related to education.

TeacherTube - 0 views

  •
This website has many videos for teachers. These videos are easy to share with multiple people.
  •
TeacherTube is a website for teachers and parents to visit to find videos on various topics. Users can search for video's based on subject and the video's are often rated on their quality.
  •
TeacherTube is a site for teachers to upload instructional videos for other teachers to view or for home learners. Members of this site are encouraged to make constructive comments, as if they were in a classroom listening to a lesson or in a meeting listening to a proposal. I thought it would be an effective way to use this website in a child-life setting. For instance, if a child was very ill and was contained to a hospital room, he/she could prevent from getting far behind in school by watching his lessons being taught online. This is a site I would recommend to all teachers, and the best part - it's free!

Art Junction - 2 views

  •
Art Junction serves as a way for students and teachers to further their artistic abilities through the activities, projects, and resources offered on the site. It also allows for students, teachers, or other professionals to not only share their art but also their experiences in creating it. It offers ways for communities to work together for a certain cause, such as thinking of creative ways to help the environment. The blog is also up to date, informative, and full of good ideas.

This site provides teachers with lesson ideas that are technology based. Teachers will find this site useful because for each activity it provides an overview of the lesson, goals, and materials needed. The site also includes detailed instruction on how to implement the activity.I really enjoyed that the site was easy to navigate and provided a lot of in-depth ideas. I will definitely use this site in my future classroom.

Dabbleboard: The Whiteboard Reinvented - 3 views

  •
Dabbleboard is an online whiteboard that allows users to visualize, explore, communicate, create, and share their work. Users can chose from two ways of drawing: freehand or computer-recognized shapes. Either way, users can create a multitude of pieces. Dabbleboard can be especially helpful for students. They can create flow charts, organizational charts, or mind maps to process school topics. As well, they can create comic strips, mark on uploaded pictures, or freehand drawings to accompany an original story. There is also a collaborative feature, that allows users to voice and video chate, share with or browse the public library, or send the link of their creation via the web. There are endless possibilities for students to express their creativity using Dabbleboard.

This can be a great graphic organizer to help students study for tests and communicate while doing projects.

Bookemon is a great site for creating, sharing, and buying books. It is a little advanced for young children but with assistance from adults, it could be really fun. After exploring its options, I want to use this program for my own use!

Family Fun, Blogs, Homes, Health, Travel, Parenting, Marriage - Families.com - 1 views

  •
Families.com is a great website for parents and families. There is a lot of information on a variety of different topics. This site provides a discussion forum where members can post topics to gain advice or knowledge from other members. I recommend it as an easy way for parents to stay informed and connected with other parents.
  •
Advice blogs and discussions on a variety of topics but not about technology.
  •
This website would be useful for parents and families. Not only do they offer a plethora of blogs, there are message boards, as well as money saving ideas and coupons. This website offers a lot of support to parents or all different types of families. For example, you can sort the blogs you are reading, by selecting "Jewish Family", "Single Parent" or "Fatherhood" just to name a few. Members can comment on blogs and offer their opinions and support. The only thing I did not love about this site is that there are lots of advertisements.

different approach to viewing and making posts.....
  •
Not that useful for parents and young children. You can create post-its but it seems like there are more effective ways to get your message to someone.
  •
I really like this website. I think think that it could be useful in classroom or with families. In the classroom it could be used to easily access information found online throughout the day or as a means of communication with parents to get their feedback on things that are happening in class. At home you could send a link to you "wall" to different family members and post different photos or even artwork that children have completed. The content that is posted on your "wall" is edited and maintained by the creator, which allows for creativity and monitoring. Overall this was easy to use and could really be a fun way for people to interact!

Early Childhood Focus - 1 views

Blog of NACCRRA, with a wide variety of information. Interesting way to use a blog to get information to the early childhhood field.
  •
This site contains a lot of information that would be useful for early childhood educators. The blog highlights current issues with education of young children throughout the country. The different entries can be sorted by topic or by state. All of the entries provide the link to the actual publication. Also if an entry is opinionated, it is sometimes labeled that way.

Search and watch millions of videos indexed from all over the web. Upload and share videos with the world.
  •
This website is a very good resource for teachers. They can find almost any video to use as a visual component for their lessons. It is nice because it shows videos from sites such as youtube, as well as other video websites. Teachers would also be able to upload videos of their class to share with parents or other educators.

very cool way to learn and study vocabulary words.....
  •
This website is very creative and fun. However, I do not think it is appropriate for early childhood education. The vocabulary is way too advanced for this age group. Also, while the pictures and videos are funny many of them are inappropriate for children. It is definitely a website for older, more mature students.
