This might be a process for embedding digital literacy into core classrooms if Retech has to go - We could do our own version of the Digital Participation Project with core teachers

"This Media 21 LibGuides chronicles the learning experiences of 10th Honors Literature/Composition who have participated in a 2009-10 learning initiative, Media 21, at Creekview High School. This program, spearheaded by school librarian Buffy Hamilton and English teacher Susan Lester, provided students a learning environment facilitated by both Hamilton and Lester in which Hamilton was "embedded" as an instructor. Media 21, rooted in connectivism, inquiry, and participatory literacy, emphasized students creating their own research "dashboards" and portals and the creation of personal learning networks to help students engage in their learning experiences and to evaluate a diverse offering of information sources more critically. This guide is also documenting the 2010-11 Cohort 2 of Media 21 and the learning experiences of both the students and the teachers."
"The CyberSafety Net is an aggregator website that draws in the best resources from the internet and presents them in a logical sequences for each year level from Prep to Year 12. Teachers, Students and Parents can freely use the materials on this website. At Coomera Anglican College, teachers are using the CyberSafety Net as a combined Scope and Sequence and curriculum, embedded into RaVE (Religious and Values Education) , PC (Pastoral Care), PD (Personal Development) and homework tasks (Religious and Values Education), and implemented at school and during homework activities."
This site is comparable to the Australian cybersmart.gov.au site. It supports and is explicit in its content and could easily be embedded into any curriculum or policy where digital citizenship is being explored.
This is a free tool for teachers to plot lessons using a blank canvas. Drop and drag You Tube clips easily searched within the site. Add images, files etc. Best of all you can see what others have designed and do a search on digital citizenship and there are some great canvases to use with your students.
A very interesting read regarding the use and non-use of digital technology (specifically smart technology) in schools and the argument for embedded digital citizenship skills across the curriculum.
