Religious Discrimination - Workplace Fairness - 2 views

  •
Do you ever wonder when you are able to practice your religion? Have you ever been denied a job opportunity or given rude looks because you believed in something someone else did not? This website provides a lot of helpful information regarding religious discrimination and shows how our society views it currently.

Religion in itself is a touchy subject. Religion in the workplace is even more so. great article with very detailed aspects on major points of religion in the workplace.
  •
This article along with anything oriented around Religious Freedoms makes me fume. Workplace discrimination is a double bladed sword in my opinion. The employee has the right to practice religion in the workplace in many cases, but the owning entity is forced to forfeit their liberty to refuse based on their own beliefs. Duality and legality in its most primitive forms.
  •
I believe that we as individuals should be able to be open and free about ourselves. Religion is a HUGE part of some people's lives, to the point they live and breathe nothing but their religion. Totally not the same, but it's almost like breastfeeding in the workplace. Some people (such as myself) need to take breaks to pump,I am constantly being joked about, given rude looks, and mocked for something I chose to do as a mother, much like those who are ridiculed for being religious. We should all be able to do and be as we please.

Native American Injustice Issues - 2 views

The United States was built on land taken from Indian nations. Treaties between the US and the Indian nations over land is being overruled by the federal government. The federal government has been overruling sacred places on Native American land.

It is sad that natives to a land are getting their land taken away when they already have enough issues as is like students failing and living in poor housing conditions.
  •
This is a very powerful article. I didn't realize annexation was still practiced however I suppose the idea of imminent domain can be considered modern day annexation. Very sad to see it's practiced mostly on the less fortunate or minority groups.
  •
Native people are the foundation of this country and it is not fair that the government feels that they have the right to take something that wasn't theirs to begin with.
  •
Everyday, the native American community is pushed further into the ground by the American government. Though they were in the America's first, there is little respect to their traditions. This article focuses on thirteen touchy subjects for Native Americans.
  •
the issued shown here are very important issues people don't see native Americans go through. as a Native American myself I see these issues everyday such as a resent issue of a Native American being strutted by a border patrol agent was in a way swept under carpet. the article gives us what native Americans face even the issues where the u.s. had treaties with the native Americans and did not do anything to help resolve the issue but keep in hidden as much as they can.

Education Is Social Justice - 1 views

  •
It is everyones right to have the opportunity to receive a good education. Education and knowledge are said to be the best quality. With this said it takes a lot of self motivation, but some kids just don't have access to education.

An article by Greg Mullenholz on the fact that education is a social justice issue within our society. He calls education "a dividing line between success and failure" and states that access to high quality teachers and education is a key component to helping students who are underprivileged to receive the future they deserve.
  •
This is an interesting perspective. I do believe education in America needs to be improved and the lack of action will cause America to become irrelevant in our modern era. I believe we need to reform our education system that is already in place and have families make it a higher priority rather than have the federal government mandate a solution.
  •
Education may be one of the biggest social justice issues because it is one of the main factors that determine a productive future instead of incarceration. The article states that "education was the dividing line between success and failure." There is a need for high-quality teachers along with equal opportunity for a good education among all different income levels.
  •
An article discussing the importance of education in society. The main idea is that under performing schools demand a certain skill set and access to funding in order to provide a path to success for their student base, and the unfortunate truth that this practice is not existent. School is the corner stone for the success of children and current standards and practices have created inequality across the nation
  •
Education being a social justice issue is nothing out of the norm. Education is not just about teaching common core programs but, it is also a place to teach kids and adults how to protect the dignity of humanity. Education is a huge dividing line between being successful and unsuccessful.

Biodiversity touches every aspect of our lives - so why has its loss been ign... - 1 views

  •
The article explains how important biodiversity is when maintaining life. The author explains that since 1970, human activities has destroyed 75 percent of all ecosystems. The article also talks about how our agricultural and fishing practices have driven 1 million species to extinction.
  •
This is truly sad. It's horrible that people are causing species to go extinct, and it's even worse because it seems like most people don't care.
