The author reviews the purpose of Residential Schools for the Deaf and how they influence the social life and wellbeing of the children who are sent there for the better. The article shows a bias leaning towards the schools although there are many hearing families who find themselves troubled by the idea of sending their Deaf children away from K-12 but the article brings forward the positive aspects of how a residential school is uniquely capable of helping deaf children develop confidence and capable social skills that would allow them to experience a proper education unlike a mainstream public school in which they would most definitely be out-casted by their lack of resources, culture, language, and role models. It shows both the pros and cons of the residential schools for the Deaf in America but with a clear bias, however this is not unreasonable. Despite the clear bias towards residential schools from the author the article offers a point of view of hearing parents finding issue with sending their child away from home for long periods of time as they would experience with a residential school.

Many children are in foster care. There is a high volume of children who stay in foster care for a long period of time and sometimes "age out". Aging out is when the minor turns 18years of age and is still in foster care. The social justice issue is that these children have a higer chance of going to orison, human trafficking and pregnancy. We need to do something as a society to help these children achieve something in there life. There are so many children who still get abused in the foster system as well. What needs to be done to prevent this from happening? More home visits to foster homes, better screening, and maybe even just a all around better system.

We all know the negative effects dropping out of high school on individuals, but have you ever thought about how the act of dropping out effects the state you live in? Those who drop out are more likely to be faced with unemployment, poor health, criminal behavior, and need for public assistance. These are all things that end up costing the state billions. This is a chronic issue in our state in particular; Arizona has been ranked one of the highest for high school dropouts for many years.

The rising suicide rates across the globe are disturbing. Over the past 45 years, the suicide rates have risen by 60%, they have nearly doubled, and are getting worse every year. As of 2016, a person commits suicide every 40 seconds, and the CDC believes that that number will rise to one every 20 seconds by 2020, a disturbing figure. The phenomenon has had little explanation as to cause, however i believe it is the fall in the number of people of faith, or religion. Over the past 50 years, more and more people have lost faith, and crime rates, and suicide rates have skyrocketed. But that is just a theory.

We all are aware and know how scary suicide can be but it is heartbreaking to know that every year the growing rate is rising. We see on the news and on social media that teens are committing suicide but we need to realize that it is not just teens, its all people. The best thing we can do for those who have thought of committing suicide is to be there and listen to them when help is needed.

It's sad to hear about how often suicide happens. I wasn't aware of how bad it actually was. There are many different reasons people decide to take their life away. All we can really do is to try to be there for anyone who needs help and show people that you care. Sometimes it can be from the people we least expect.

Should single people to allowed to adopt? This website fights for the equality of unmarried people and it discusses whether or not unmarried people should deserve more equal opportunity of being able to adopt a child. it explains first that there are so many children waiting to be adopted. Then the website also talks about how unmarried people actually want to adopt. 

Being married should not have any precedence over those who are not. Love is a universal concept that everyone has to offer. Women no longer need a man to provide for them, so why should one have to be married to love and care for a child? Especially if the willing parent has no issue providing the means to support the child. It is better than just leaving the child in a system that gives them no actual emotional support, which only contributes to abandonment and self-worth issues.

Personally I think anyone who is willing to tell themselves that they want to take in a child that is not born from their blood line and care for that child as if they are then all power to them, there are too many children out there that don't have homes and are put in the system until they age out and I think equality for single people is the right thing to do.

James McCaffery and his service dog 'Kizzy' went along with James' mother and brother to top an oyster card at Dudu Miah's store in Limehouse, east London. He was told "Get out of my shop. No dogs in this shop." The mother, Katy McCaffery told Mr. Miah that it is against the law to deny 'Kizzy.' He stated that he did not care if he was breaking the law.

In this report it talks about foster kids and what happens to them after they turn 18. While some states, a small handful, have programs for the kids others do not. It spoke about kids turning 18 then getting dropped off at homeless shelters. I hope in the near future there will be a change for these kids. They crime rate, young parent rate and homeless rates are just not acceptable. Please read and see how you can help in you community.

There was a group home next door to my home for years. These kids had no support even when they were in the system. They were often locked out of the home when the state workers needed to go somewhere. My family and I ended up being family for many of these children. One afternoon, Charles who lived in the group home, rang our doorbell. I came out and he was yellow and falling over. I asked him where are the workers. He let me know they had locked them out again. I put him in my car and rushed him to the hospital. I knew it was bad when the emergency room nurses took him immediately. The staff at the group home had been giving him the wrong medication and he lost most of his liver. Charles calls me mom. His children call me Grandma. A lot of the kids that were living in the home, call me mom. I refer to them as one of my kids. The best way to take care of these children is to invite them into your heart, lives and family before and after they turn 18. Demonstrate the way to success by showing them love.

Safety is important in our schools but what steps are going to be taken to protect personal freedoms and safety.

I can not believe that people really place ads on Craigslist pretty much giving away or selling their children like pets. This article shows real ads that were placed to basically get rid of their children just the same as one would sell a dresser. Not only does this actually happen it is LEGAL!

This is just insane. It's unbelievable how something like this can be legal. Kids aren't pets or an object to be selling or giving away in a website. Although, towards the end of the article it does make a valid point, what makes us think that it's right for agencies to profit and make money out of these adoptions?

I didn't know this was real until I met someone that sold their child to a family in Italy. I can't imagine selling my kids. What is even more sad is that these people don't even know if their baby is really being cared for or placed in sex trafficking or the black market for some sickos.

Many people have become homeless due to the pandemic. Landlords are raising the rent in this time of crisis and people aren't able to afford to live anymore. Unemployment rates have also gone through the roof

This was a good, but very sad read. I cant imagine having to be evicted out of my home due to being out of work for something like the pandemic. Something completely out of your control. I know that Arizona temporarily put a notice during the lockdown that those who couldn't pay rent were not allowed to be evicted (I was one of them) but it didn't last long enough. Like the article states, COVID19 has long term affects not short ones meaning more time to recover from its effects are needed.

The use of school uniforms is said to dissipate gang violence and cut out segregation, but this article explains how that may not be happening. The article suggest that uniforms distract the government from getting to the root of the problem and strips the children of individuality.

This article informs about seeds being patented. Furthermore, they point out that no one should own the rights to a seed as it is a living thing. Patenting seeds puts the food industry in big business hands.

Moral values are less common among society in todays world. The values and beliefs of a person should not be punishable. The nation started out as a christian nation and it no longer is.

Whether it's "terrorists", global warming, or a new virus, the government and media usually blow things way out of proportion. Most of the time it stirs the public into a frenzy and we end up spending money in some way. Sometimes the cash goes to groups that help end hunger in Africa and other times it's a huge hospital bill because we weren't sure if it was the bird flu or the swine flu (turned out to be a cold).
