Interesting interactive site with virtual explorations of fertilization, microscopes, anatomy, and acid ocean (I haven't looked at it yet). 

Virtual Open Heart Bypass Surgery. Somewhat interactive but very educational. Takes you through the process from giving an anesthetic to waking the patient up. Pretty cool. 

Pattern blocks are great tools for developing conceptual understanding. I hope to continue to see them used in classrooms, but the virtual kind can allow students to share their thinking with other students virtually. I like using screen capture, cut/paste, upload to a wiki, comment on characteristics/size/description of '1'/and sharing with students so that their thikning can be revisited from multiple venues (home, classroom, internet-broader audience).

When I did compound search "algebra" + "linear" much tighter and deleted virtually all inappropriate material. I just like the way you can explore the information. If you have students gathering information and tagging with specific tags like "wjhsconlit09" then you could pull up all of that material without interference. I think it's a great tool for that kind of exploration.

Virtual Nerd is developing some very interesting video tutorials. The videos are primarily symbolic and procedural but they are thorough , organized, and model notes accompany the videos.  they are in the process of developing physics videos.

Great set of virtual history tours through Google Earth. 

If working in the virtual environment with students, you are likely aware that embedding video and other resources into pages/posts is an important aspect of online literacy. This site gives the user an enhanced interface. Good for more advanced users or for presentations that you want more control over.

I think it has great potential for book studies/sharing.
