Really interesting way of doing a multimedia search. Not sure it's classroom safe, even with safe search on there were several images that were beyond borderline. When I did compound search "algebra" + "linear" much tighter and deleted virtually all inappropriate material. I just like the way you can explore the information. If you have students gathering information and tagging with specific tags like "wjhsconlit09" then you could pull up all of that material without interference. I think it's a great tool for that kind of exploration.

Welcome to the Catalogue of Digitized Medieval Manuscripts. This site was designed to enable users to find fully digitized manuscripts currently available on the web. You can use the search box to quickly search on specific terms, or use the "Search Manuscripts" link to search on particular fields, such as date, or provenance information. You can also browse the Catalogue by the Location of an archive or library, the shelfmark of an item, by the author of a text (where that information is available), or by the language of a text (again, where available).

Very interesting idea for having students/teachers create a story using search queries. Doesn't work all of the time for all search topics, but has some very interesting applications.

A Firefox extension/add-on that shows you a relevant Wikipedia article along with your search results. Clicking links in the article will trigger new Google searches, making it a very useful research tool..

Great tool for searching flickr, tagging photos and doing it safely. I did several searches and didn't get but one photo that could even be considered questionable.

Google continues to support educators in developing student capacity to use the internet for academic search. Great resource to help teachers take an intentional developmental approach to student research skills. 

Safe search for kids by kids. kid friendly interface.

interesting photo search tool.

Obviously,I'm not a writing expert, but I love how this post describes the writing process this teacher is using at Duke with her students. The peer editing process is tested and this approach uses a screencast (video that can include audio of what is happening on a computer- mouse movements, ability to highlight text while commenting, etc.) I think it's right up our alley and incorporates free technology.

Multimedia search tool. Interesting but it may not be totally safe for classroom use.
