Wordle - Create - 1 views

  •
Creates a graphic of words based on several criteria, can be used to create a graphic of vocabulary from a chapter or a graphic of tags from a class delicious account. Not an end all site, but great way for students/teachers to present a list of topics in a unique way during a presentation. I can see using this to help create a word wall activity using the interactive whiteboard.

Online Spreadsheets - EditGrid - 0 views

Online spreadsheet tool. Always worth sharing. Decent graphics tools, but not as intuitive or as easy as Excel. If you don't have access to Excel, not a bad alternative.

10 Awesome Free Tools To Make Infographics - 2 views

  •
Information graphics, visual representations of data known as infographics, keep the web going these days. Web users, with their diminishing attention spans, are inexorably drawn to these shiny, brightly coloured messages with small, relevant, clearly-displayed nuggets of information. They're straight to the point, usually factually interesting and often give you a wake-up call as to what those statistics really mean.

Top 10 Best Gadgets of 2008 - Breakthrough Awards - Year's Best Toys - Popular Mechanics - 0 views

  •
The top ten breakthroughs of 2008 by Popular Mechanics is an incredible list. There are several that have potential impacts on education including the Amazon Kindel and the Livescribe Pulse Smartpen. I am fascinated with the smartpen, because I think it makes taking notes in a lecture setting potentially multidimensional (I can take my notes graphically, but also record what the instructor is saying about those notes).

Interesting that the more students are allowed to access content via dynamic and graphical approaches that their scores increase. Why are we staying with symbolic/procedural approaches?

Teacher Zone - 1 views

  •
Interesting site with videos for teacher use with students. Very procedural in nature, but does include graphics/images to support development.  Worth exploring for use with students. Letting students watch the videos for instruction and then discuss.

Motion Math - Move, play, learn! - 0 views

  •
Great new number sense math app. Cost $0.99 at this time but uses: the capabilities of the iPhone well (motion, graphics), multiple representations including linear and circle models, decimals, fractions, percents. Is fast moving and progresses beyond 0 to 1 to have students estimating values like 0.26 on a number line from 0 to 2.

How Different Groups Spend Their Day - Interactive Graphic - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
This is the kind of graph that students need to be interacting with as much as possible. Great example of different ways of expressing data. I would love to see questions that students could write based on this kind of graph.

gettingtrickywithwikis - Background Colour in Tables - 0 views

When you want to make your wiki do things that aren't necessarily easy to do this is a great site! I added a background graphic to a wiki with the help of this site. It was very helpful in getting the basic code added and with a little tinkering it did the things I needed it to do! Great resource

Illuminations: Dynamic Paper - 2 views

  •
Neat tool for teachers. Need a quickly designed number line or graph paper. From NCTM and Illuminations, easy to use but not super easy to manipulate. Good for basic graphics needs.

Java - 1 views

  •
A collection of 279 Math Applets designed by International Education Software. Apps show individual concepts from multiple perspectives, usually conceptually from a diagram and graphically. Not very dynamic in that students wouldn't be able to manipulate multiple variables, but great to use with an interactive white board to show connections between representations and to confirm calculations/predictions.
