According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, by the end of today the web will fill up with more information than what had existed in entirety prior to 2003. Much of this deluge is being created by ordinary netizens, rather than by corporations. The web has become a raging river filled with tweets, status updates, photos and videos.

There are many great websites that provide opportunities for students to develop language skills, tell stories, and share back their knowledge in fun, creative, and meaningful ways each using a computer.  There are also terrific websites and portals which have links to excellent online interactives which can be used in the classroom  with an interactive whiteboard.  Below are links and short descriptions of these sites.

Karen Barley is a horror story told on Twitter with tweets linking out to YouTube videos and photos. It's the creative brainchild of Kristi Barnett and during its three week run in July earned some impressive stats for a low-budget independent production including almost 700 followers on Twitter and over 5000 words in press coverage plus a spot on BBC TV.

Digital storytelling is using technology to tell stories.  It's a great way to develop visual and media literacy, promote reflection, engage students in their own learning, improve speaking and writing skills, to collaborate, reflect and evaluate.   Here are the first 25 digital storytelling tools that you can use in your classes or just to tell your digital story.
