This is an interesting site that feels like a cross between coding and story writing. Make branching stories where readers choose what happens next.

teacher in suburban Washington DC has launched a collaborative writing
initiative using the messaging tool Twitter. Prepare to be concise!
a middle school teacher in Montgomery County, MD,
launched Manyvoices, which may
be the first collaborative student writing project on Twitter.
Mayo’s idea was to embrace Twitter’s 140 character limit as a creative
challenge for his students, using a framework known as a Twittory.
Created by Cameron Reilly, a Twittory is a story in which each person may add
only 140 characters to the story. The story must also be told in 140 posts - no
more, no less.
Have students to create visual works of art online. Silk is an interactive site where students can drag their mouse around on the page to create beautiful weaving & whirling designs. Drawing lines on the screen will add color to the moving art, & by speeding up or slowing down their movements the effect will change. Students can choose between 6 different colors, & 3 different modes of symmetry. Students can share their creation with a simple link. Have students describe their unique artwork as a description & creative writing exercise. Also available as an app for the iPad.
This is a 'must try' iPad app where you can design a 3D creature. Tap, drag and pinch your creation until it is just right and then 'paint' it with the patterns you want. It's a great resource to use alongside creative writing or science work. If you have access to a 3D printer you can even fabricate your design. Download the app at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/123d-creature/id594014056.

This is a superb resource for making 3D storyboards and animations. The programme is a little complicated and is designed to be used by older children. It feels similar to Google SketchUp and it will have your class enthralled for hours with creative writing and animating fun. A large download, but worth it.

This is a superb random word generator split into nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Great for infusing a little magic into creative writing sessions.

A easy to use, versatile mapping tool. Students can annotate and draw on the maps. Great with an interactive whiteboard. Because this site uses Google Maps you can not only use a map of Earth, but the Moon, Mars and the sky too. Great for Sci-Fi creative writing.

"We have to link real learning to real lives," Johanna Riddle
writes in the Introduction to her book. "If we genuinely want to reach our students where they are, show them how to apply technology meaningfully and substantively, and encourage independent, criticial, and creative thinking, we
must be prepared to help them navigate life in the twenty-first century."

This video explores the changes in the way we find, store, create, critique, and share information. This video was created as a conversation starter, and works especially well when brainstorming with people about the near future and the skills needed in order to harness, evaluate, and create information effectively.

A wonderful site with ten relaxing sound scapes and a photo slideshow to go with the sounds. Scenes include rainforest, bonfire, beach and dophins. Great for calming things down in your class or to use to inspire creative writing.
