Pinterest of PBL examples from Ginger Lewman

We love this document that Mark Anderson has produced for a training day at his school in North Somerset, UK. It succinctly provides the name of Web2.0 tools and gives you examples of how to use them. From our experience teachers did need quick, easy and fast ways to connect to new technology ideas. We think Mark achieves this very well!

In an adaption of Ch. 1 from one of his books, Larry  Ferlazzo focused on intrinsic motivation, and suggested, for example,"People are more motivated and confident when they feel they have more control over their environment. Inviting students to have a voice in classroom decisions-where they sit, what day a test takes place, in what order units are studied, or even where a plant should be placed in the classroom-can help them develop that greater sense of control" (Creating Opportunities for Students to Help Make Decisions, para. 1).

"IRIS holds data collection instruments from a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives. These include, for example, questionnaires about motivation, attitudes, learning strategies, and intercultural understanding; experimental teaching methods; classroom observation and interview schedules; teaching tasks; sound and video files; word lists; pictures for encouraging learners to use specific structures; language tests for different skills and types of knowledge… and many more besides" (Materials on IRIS, ¶1).

"While the authors of The SIOP Model advocate for writing separate content and language objectives, others are advocating for the incorporation of language skills into content objectives. In either case, making language learning explicit benefits students as it clarifies what they should know and learn in a given lesson" (¶9). Some teachers also incorporate a third type of objective: behavioral. Behavioral objectives make explicit to students the actions and behaviors associated with classroom activities. Examples of behavioral objectives may include engaging in conversations, working in cooperative groups or delivering speeches" (¶10).

Behavior Learning Objectives: these are now "Ownership" in the Relevance and Rigor, paradigm. Would you agree?

MBA are for professionals who have few years of managerial work experience because practical aspects and situations are the core of an MBA. MBA is standard in business education. The MBA course curriculum exposes student to a wide range of management disciplines, and provides a way of rational thought about management and a career in that specific area. A student can pursue its MBA in a specialized field for example Finance, HR, Marketing, International Business etc. Therefore the first stage of MBA curriculum is same for all the student which includes mandatory modules and the next stage is the elective stage where the student can choose its specialization followed by internship/ project at the end.

Why use Web 2.0 tools in science and math classes? The primary reason is they facilitate access to input and interaction with content through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These tools offer enormous advantages for science and math teachers, in terms of helping their students learn using Web 2.0 tools. For example: * Most of these tools can be edited from any computer connected to the Internet. Teachers can add, edit and delete information even during class time. * Students learn how to use these tools for academic purposes and, at the same time, can transfer their use to their personal lives and future professional careers. * RSS feeds allow students to access all the desired research information on one page. * Students learn to be autonomous in their learning process.
