If i can recall what I have read up quite some time ago, there needs to be a team managing this site. It involves administrators, programmers, lecturers, content contributors, etc. Thus, if we were to set this up, we need to gather the required people first.

On the media by stanford, seems like they have lots of in-house videos to share. For NIE, I wonder ...

Mobile Learning is Beyond its Tipping Point by Gerry Griffin : Learning Solutions Magazine - 1 views

  • To be effective at improving productivity and content retention, mobile learning content must take a different form from what has gone before. And it is content — content fit for the mobile learning purpose — that will drive market growth.
  • there are two types of user for mobile learning — the “considered” user and the “trigger” user.
  • The considered user downloads and views learning material
  • ...5 more annotations...
  • The trigger user responds to contextual situations that require action
  • know what
  • know-how
  • Mobile learning is also best focused around “inflection points.” These are times during the week where there is no opportunity to redo the task, and where high performance is vital. Examples of inflection points include issuing a verbal warning to an employee, conducting a meaty interview, and doing a key client review.
  • the idea of learning separated by an extended period of time from the “Event,” when a person actually attempts to use the learning has to be challenged. Few learners today want the information weeks and even months in advance. They actually would like to have specific top-of-mind and refresher learning “on-demand” minutes or even seconds before they will need to use it.

PDFs Become Contextually Amazing With Scribd's Apture Integration - 0 views

  • Above, you can see an image of my screen while reading a PDF titled The Internet of things: Networked objects and smart devices. I highlighted the name of a company quoted in the report and with two quick clicks I was watching a YouTube video of a product demo. I highlighted an expert's name and was able to learn all about their career and find them on Twitter - without leaving the page.
  • Scribd says it's working on a native iPad experience for its service, but that won't arrive until later this year or next year.

TODAYonline | Tech | Mobile Apps | Meet your app makers - 3 views

  • Appcelerator Titanium Mobile Platforms: iPhone and Android What you need to get started: Software installed from the site Feature set: 4/5 | Difficulty: 5/5 | Reach: 5/5 To use Appcelerator Titanium Mobile, you need to be familiar with Web languages like Python, HTML and Javascript. That said, you will not need to know specific programming languages typically required to develop apps for the iPhone and Android. All you do is build the app using Web languages, and Titanium does the rest. You will need to download the iPhone SDK (which is Mac-only) if you plan to make iPhone apps. This development platform doesn't come with any tutorials - you will have to rely on the goodwill of the community and learn how to use the tools through knowledge posted on forums. There are also paid services that provide support and automation during the app-making process. If you know how to wield the tools correctly, Titanium can offer more features than App Inventor for Android. But there are limitations to being a third-party development platform - the latest features in iOS and Android OS are not guaranteed to work here. Verdict: If you are open to teaching yourself app development as a hobby, the versatile Appcelerator Titanium Mobile is a great way to start. The faint of heart need not apply.
  • App Inventor lets you create apps by dragging and dropping "building blocks" embedded with code that work when you drag them onto a blank canvas. These blocks let you access virtually every function of an Android handset - from timestamps and touchscreen virtual buttons to the motion sensor and GPS.
