From the LARC newsletter:
G.L.O.S.S. provides over 7,000 lessons in 40 languages with skill integration (reading/listening) and an interface that supports easy navigation. Lessons are built around authentic materials such as articles, TV reports, and radio broadcasts, and are most appropriate for learners at a low-intermediate level (ILR 1) and above. G.L.O.S.S. is designed and maintained by the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, and is freely available to teachers and students alike.
If you don't get the Edutopia newsletters, or haven't taken a look around their site - please do so! They are not all about technology, but have lots of teaching and learning information in innovative ways - and also a section dedicated to technology use!
Very interesting postings, many of them with appealing pictures or other visuals. The topics seem to span a broad area within the area of learning with technology. This is Garett, by the way.
Hi Garrett, I was following his blog, too: Niks' Learning Technology Blog (via Feedly). He reviews and demos a lot of great tools. One thing I had a problem with is that nothing seems to be dated. One of is blogs had a bunch of great tools on it and I found links that were useful. Then, other links in the same blog were broken or, even for me, seemed way out of date (hasn't everyone already heard of Firefox?).
One of my friends started up one of these Scoop.it "newsletters" and I get messages weekly from it - automated. I wonder if she even knows it's still running...?
This article talks about the ways in which a PLN helped educators eventually connect their classes via Skype. Students might not use Twitter, but Twitter connected educators.
