A few of my students use Prezi. Basically like powerpoint, but visually a little more appealing. I'm assuming it's free, and probably stored in the cloud somewhere, so students can't really "lose" or forget it.
-
Prezi is free, and does have a sharing component. It is helpful for students that use Ipads, since Google presentation doesn't seem to work for them.

A little overwhelming in terms of the number of resources, but really great resources nonetheless!

A lot of great ideas and resources all gathered in this one resource. I look forward to having an afternoon to read through this more carefully.

In addition to taking classes, she supplements her education by using Learning Upgrade, a smartphone app with English and math lessons for adults.
-
Along with our face-to-face instruction and tutoring, we offer an additional resource to our adult students: educational software via mobile technology.
-
This access to educational software allows those with limited scheduled availability, or those who do not yet have an assigned tutor, to learn at their own pace and on their own time.

In my district, we are always being asked to connect our language teaching to other disciplines. Using Smartphone to do so is smart. However, not all of my students have these devices. They can definitely share a device. I like how this article is geared toward adult learners who can't or don't have time to attend physical classes. The App allows them to access this knowledge anywhere anytime. Thanks Akiko.

LLT Vol8Num3: SUPPORTING SYNCHRONOUS DISTANCE LANGUAGE LEARNING WITH DESKTOP VIDEOCONFERENCING - 3 views
-
A preliminary evaluation with language teachers and computer specialists was carried out in 2001 to investigate the technological capabilities of four Internet-based desktop videoconferencing tools (CUseeMe, ICUII, Video VoxPhone Gold, and NetMeeting), and NetMeeting revealed itself as the most potentially appropriate tool for supporting oral and visual interaction in DLE (Wang, 2004).
-
He suggested firstly that "linguistic interaction is a collaborative activity," and then moved on to say that "linguistic communication involves the establishment of a triangular relationship between the sender, the receiver, and the context of situation."
-
Oral-visual interaction represents the highest level of CMC-based interaction at the present time.

Lots of comprehensible input there! They learned about new genres. Some said they added music that we learned about in class to their playlists. Love that!

All too often though, presentations feel rather one-dimensional and audiences begin to drift.

Not only will audiences be enraptured, but presenters will gain skills in digital literacy and creativity, as well as a lot of confidence! Glogster presentations can also be shared instantly with classmates, parents, colleagues and learners around the globe.

This could be really useful for study abroad reflection too!

I tried this one at the beginning of the week, but gave up after not being able to type accent marks in Spanish. I like the idea of creating posters or "one pager" presentations.

"...no differences were found between video and FTF groups." The article shows that CMC performance is very similar to FTF--this suggests to me that recorded Skype conversations (or similar recorded online CMC work) could serve as a good way to practice and assess interpersonal communication skills.
