"The process of creating and publishing videos can be a great way to get students excited about researching, storytelling, and sharing their work with an audience. For teachers who have never facilitated video creation projects in their classrooms, choosing the right style of video and the right tools can be a bit confusing at first. To help bring clarity to the styles and tools, I have a rather simple outline that I use in my video creation workshops. For middle and upper grades as well as adults: Scribble Maps (an easier version of Google Earth/Maps), which includes pencil tools for drawing on the map; Presentations within Google Classroom, used by the students; Newspaper Generator to summarize main ideas; Timeline Maker, with a link to a planner activity and reference to another on ReadWriteThink; and Fakebook, a Facebook-like application for historical figures on ClassTools.net. Very useful blog with many other tools and activities. Social studies oriented.

"Draftback is a good web tool that allows you to playback the revision history of any Google Doc you can edit. You will be able to watch your edits roll out in a video player as if you are watching a movie. We have tried this extension a couple of times and it worked perfectly well. As a teacher, you can use Draftback to track students revision history to identify how much work and time they have put into their writing. You will also be able to see whether doc is their own writing or they have been copying and pasting stuff from the Internet."

"Creating cartoon avatar of yourself is fun and interesting. You can convert your photos into cartoon effects using free online tools which you can use on your online profiles like Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and any other place you want." This article suggests almost a dozen online applications to make cartoons out of photos. Find a useful tool for your students to use in digital storytelling.

If they don't want to mount them in their own homes, they might make a little house to demonstrate how the Liter of Light works.
