Podcasts sind seit ihrem großen Hype im Jahr 2005 in der Netzlandschaft angekommen. Doch sind es nicht einfach nur Audiosendungen im Internet, sondern nicht selten spielen interessante Konzepte im Hintergrund eine Rolle. Novum interaktives Whiteboard: Anna Zinßer hat den Schulunterricht der Zukunft mit dem innovativen Gerät in ihrer Bachelorarbeit erforscht. Ein Zeitungsartikel schickte Anna Zinßers Phantasie auf eine Zeitreise in die Zukunft. In dem Text ging es um interaktive Whiteboards - elektronische Wandtafeln, die an einen Computer angeschlossen sind und vom Nutzer interaktiv mit dem Finger oder einem speziellen Stift bedient werden können. „Ich dachte gleich: Wow, das ist faszinierend. Das ist die Zukunft, in der wir jetzt aber angekommen sind", erzählt die ehemalige Informationsdesign-Studentin an der Stuttgarter Hochschule der Medien. In diesem Augenblick war das Thema für ihre Bachelorarbeit gefunden. Für ihre Abschlussarbeit hat die 22-Jährige in sechs Monaten Lehrmaterialien und Unterrichtsszenarien für die elektronische Wandtafel entwickelt, die sie im Schulunterricht in einem hessischen Gymnasium einsetzte. „Eine Schule zu finden, mit der ich zusammenarbeiten konnte, war gar nicht so leicht: Viele Schulen planen zwar eine Anschaffung der neuen Geräte, bislang werden in Deutschland jedoch kaum interaktive Whiteboards im Unterricht eingesetzt", so Anna. Umso spannender gestaltete sich dann die Zusammenarbeit, als endlich ein Projektpartner gefunden war: „Das Gymnasium wurde gerade frisch mit den Geräten ausgestattet - ich konnte das Projekt also von Beginn an begleiten."

Take the simplicity of Twitter, add some features such as sending attachments, redesign the software to appeal to teachers and students, what you end up with is Edmondo.com, a young site that is rapidly gaining converts in the education community. It is a great example of using digital tools to organize a student's day-to-day workflow. Edmodo provides a way for teachers and students to share notes, links, and files. Teachers have the ability to send alerts, events, and assignments to students. Privacy is the biggest drawback to using traditional web 2.0 tools in a k-12 classroom setting.  (Has Twitter been around long enough to be called traditional?) Edmondo promotes itself as "a private communication platform for teachers and students." I'm not a teacher, so I'll defer to the views of someone who is. Mark Warner is a primary teacher in the U.K. who runs the successful www.TeachingIdeas.co.uk and blogs on MrWarner.com.  He and his students (ages nine and ten) just recently started using the site, and they think it's great.

Abgesehen von seiner Darstellung, wie schulisches Lernen heute schon aussehen und organisiert weden könnte, macht er auch darauf aufmerksam, dass andere Schulen zwingend eine andere Lehrerausbildung voraussetzen

when teachers and students connect outside school In my last entry, I made a comment about the value of "cool" teachers interacting with students on social network sites. I received some push-back from non-educators. Most of the concerns revolved around teachers' ethics and their responsibilities with respect to legal structures like the Federal Rights and Privacy Act. There were also concerns that teachers who would interact with students in these environments would be putting themselves at risk.

Intro: The Professional Networked Learning Collaborative Back in 2002 in his book Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution Howard Rheingold predicted that, "The 'killer apps' of tomorrow's mobile infocom industry won't be hardware devices or software program but social practices. The most far reaching changes will come, as they often do, from the kinds of relationships, enterprises, communities, and markets that the infrastructure makes possible." The prediction, as we now know, was spot dead on. The technology has transformed our relationships, how we are able to collaborate, how we now define communities, what constitutes a network, and what kinds of work we are able to do. According to Deborah Ancona and Henrik Bresman, authors of X-Teams, "…team effectiveness is not just a matter of managing well around the conference table. Success also depends on team's reaching out across their borders to find needed information and expertise."It is this intersection of collaboration and technology that has now allowed us to create and leverage a new form of boundary crossing Professional Learning Community. It's called a Professional Networked Learning Collaborative.

The ability to relate abstract knowledge to real-world experiences is indispensable in the modern society. Therefore the construction of knowledge from real-world contexts is a major issue of education. This issue is not supported by the current learning management systems. In the RAFT project we develop a system to support remote accessible field trips. One of its applications, the mobile collector, facilitates constructivistic learning processes in real-world contexts.

Pencasts are audio-annotated animated diagrams produced using the Livescribe Pulse smartpen's Paper Replay application. Pencasts are movies that present animated ink strokes synchronized with what was said as the strokes were drawn. Beyond simply scrubbing back and forth (fast forwarding and rewinding using the playhead marker), users can click on a particular portion of the diagram to begin playing a Pencast from that moment.
