As our understanding of the brain has improved, however, it has become clear that a more accurate model depends on how these modules are wired together in circuits. A technique called diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) gives us a tool to probe the nature of those connections. A recent study suggests, for instance, that the more a person seeks out new experiences and relies on social approval, the stronger his or her wiring is among brain areas involved in reward, emotion and decision making.

£1 Million Available to Support Youth Projects (UK) Young people are being given the chance to claim a share of £1 million to help tackle the dangers of drugs, crime and play a positive role in their community. The Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cash Awards will see £1 million of grants being distributed by youth charity "The Prince's Trust" to young people who want to run community projects in some of Britain's poorest areas. The Awards, worth £250 to £5,000, are available to disadvantaged 14 to 25-year-olds who want to transform their area and learn practical skills. Projects could range from improving local youth facilities to tackling teenage pregnancy or drug misuse. Projects must: · be run and managed by people between the ages of 14 and 25 · clearly benefit the local community · benefit the people running the project · be a new or developing project. Previous projects supported include; an amateur boxing project to give young people greater confidence; and a media project to promote community cohesion and greater understanding between the local community and asylum seekers. Applications can be made at any time.

This site was recommended by a colleague at the Campaign for Learning: Jamie Wright. It is basically a visaulization - representing the "virtual world of content" - where anything is posted with the words "I feel..." or "feeling" - and/or emotions. It gives you a snapshot of the emotional world we live in.

It is one of a series of annual reports from the 2007-08 Citizenship Survey. Other reports cover Volunteering and Charitable Giving, Identity and Values, Community Cohesion and Race, Religion and Equalities."

This fund might be worth exploring for our joint project......if successful, it would give us funding to explore everything we discussed in detail......before actually delivering workshops. What do you think?
