Teaching Yoga to Children's Sports Teams - Yoga Practice Blog - 0 views

  •
By Faye Martins Just 40 years ago, it was common to see children playing sports like baseball, soccer, and football in vacant lots. These unorganized games were competitive, but they had no adult intervention or supervision. This "adult free" atmosphere had positive and negative benefits. As children, we learned to sort matters out amongst ourselves without competitive adult coaching. On the other hand, there were times when we could have used a sage for guidance.

Yoga Teacher Training: The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Yoga Business - 0 views

  •
By Rachel Holmes No yoga teacher wants to deal with marketing. Most instructors still have trouble with asking for money for the classes they teach. The problem is that you won't be teaching long, if you do it for free. Unfortunately, all of us need money to live. Paul Jerard often compares teachers to authors. The point is: Writing a book is a lot of work, but marketing the book is also a full-time job and a completely different skill.

Yoga on Health - A Teacher's Overview - 0 views

  •
By Melody Wordsworth Before starting this essay over a year ago I decided strongly that my Yoga on health topic would have to be Yoga and HIV. As we live in a society where this has unfortunately become a big health problem and a large portion of the population, especially in South Africa is affected by this life threatening disease. As a qualified Pharmacist assistant working in the health sector I see firsthand how this disease affects people. I believe that as Yoga changed my life for the better it can also change the life of those affected by this life altering disease. I believe that Yoga can present them with health benefits to ensure a longer life where the HIV can be kept under control for many years. But before continuing with this topic I have also decided since falling pregnant last year to go further in depth with Yoga during pregnancy as this assisted me in having a successful, stress free pregnancy which I got to enjoy to its full capacity. Enjoying Yoga , while creating life is astonishing.

Yoga Teacher Training: Encouraging Students to Safely Practice Yoga at Home - 0 views

  •
By Gopi Rao Unfortunately, I have met teachers who purposely discouraged experienced students from practicing at home. They pointed out that improper alignment could ruin a practitioner for life. In fact, they preached that practicing Yoga without one's teacher could be a "game ender." Some of us believed it until the Internet made information easy to obtain. Suddenly, people were sharing information free. The magazines, studies, and research, rained down from cyber space and some of us started to realize that we had been misinformed. The world would not end if we practiced Yoga alone.

Teaching Yoga: Physical Advantages - 0 views

  •
By Sanjeev Patel It is often sad that the ancient Yogis would be saddened by the fitness-based styles we see today. It is also contended that Indians do not practice physical forms of Yoga. My answer (question) to that is: Have you ever been to India? I can appreciate the attention Yogic philosophy and methodology are getting, but there are many different forms of Yoga that are practiced in India. I contend that the ancient Yogis would be pleased about the number of practitioners who gain physical benefits today. If you desire to become a Yoga instructor, you should feel free to embrace the physical benefits and explain them to your students.

Yoga Teacher Education: Headaches - Yoga Teacher Training Blog - 0 views

  •
By Faye Martins Yoga teachers learn to create lesson plans as prescriptions for ailments. Among the common ailments, which nag at humans, are headaches. Almost every person on this planet has experienced a mild or severe headache at one time or another. Over the counter pain killers are a huge industry and their main use is for headaches. Although this subject is not usually mentioned in a foundational 200-hour yoga teacher training, it should be. The concept of a pain free day by practicing natural yogic techniques should be taught to the public.
