This article explores financial literacy through race, gender and age. For most people their financial literacy improves as they become older. There are an abundant amount of statistics in this piece. In order to raise awareness of financial literacy college professors have begun developing classes to teach students how to become financially independent.

She supported the cause giving her opinion on how the arts have the ability to impact us all. She specifically addresses young people and the importance of including the arts in their education. The ideas that art encourages individuality,growth and representation of our ideals are central to her speech

This article is also a research article about adult literacy. It touches base on gender roles as it applies to literacy. It establishes that the lack of focus on gender roles and literacy effects the success in that area of knowledge. It states that the development between women and men is different pertaining to literacy, menaing it is an unequal development. Lack of attention on this issue and resistence to accept this social role causes problems when learning about writing.

This article discribes the transition from high school to college. More specifically it discusses the transition for the women. There was a study that followed women in theirlast months of high school into their first few months of college. This study recorded the effects and emotions of the women as they readjusted to the college life.\n

Article talked about the many advantage that music has over a person's personality and behaviors. Some of the examples were "Studying music encourages self-discipline and diligence, traits that carry over into intellectual pursuits and that lead to effective study and work habits". Also other examples how music encouraged a community and brought groups together. It then went on the explain the health benefits of music therapy which will be great to use in my paper when I am explaining the benefits music therapy could have on other countries where actual medicine is not easily accessible.

Web. 20 November 2010 Debates continue in public and in educational policy forums about the 'basics' of literacy while many have not recognised that these basics may never be the same again. Rapid changes in digital communication provide facilities for reading and writing to be combined with various and often quite complex aspects of music, photography and film. At the same time, educational policy and national testing requirements are still principally focused on the reading and writing of print-based texts. This paper examines evidence from classroom research to analyse the nature of multimodal literacy, the literacy that is needed in contemporary times for reading, viewing, responding to and producing multimodal and digital texts. Examples of students' engagement in multimodal literacy are presented to demonstrate how classroom literacy practices can incorporate the practices of talking, listening, reading and writing together with processing the modes of written text, image, sound and movement in print and digital texts.

Incorporating imagination in the classroom may prevent future education problems that aren't yet known. Also, they state that experience expands imagination. Imagination is based off of real life experiences according to Vygotsky's first law of imagination.

The effects technology has on younger kids is described in this article. Research was conducted to determine if younger kids were impacted and exactly how they were impacted. The outcome was to find out how technology effected academic achievement in the designated age groups. I will use this information in putting together a side of how kids are impacted (positively or negatively) by technology.

A number of studies have reported positive associations between music experience and increased abilities in non-musical (e.g., linguistic, mathematical, and spatial) domains in children. These transfer effects continue to be probed using a variety of experimental designs. The major aim of this quasi-experimental study was to examine the effects of a scaffolded music instruction program on the vocabulary and verbal sequencing skills of two cohorts of second-grade students. One group (n = 46) studied piano formally for a period of three consecutive years as part of a comprehensive instructional intervention program.

Parents should aslo read their children stories. These ideas for parents come from the government because they feel that parents should do more to help their child's learning.

The project that the article is about informs the reader how important it is for literacy to develop all throughout the ages. Parents needs to be the primary assistants in helping progress a child's english and literacy, and then teachers take on the role as they get older. This article houses many examples for this inquiry.

This book is about programs created to help students and their learning. The programs have been reinvented in order to help prepare students. The programs are also useful to help students become better with their literacy. The book also discusses 25 specific schools who are trying to improve there teaching skills. It focuses in on the teacher techniques and credibility. It is split into two sections, discussing the key characteristics of successful English and also field research like the types we will be using for this paper.

Web. 8 Nov. 2010.\n\nCollege student participants completed a web-based survey assessing demographics, depression, anxiety, body image, cigarette smoking, and weight history. Among overweight participants, 42.6% of those who believed they were overweight admitted to binge eating, while only 30.1% who did not feel overweight did so. Among non-overweight participants, 43.2% of those who believed they were overweight admitted to binge eating, while only 32.9% of those who did not feel overweight did so. Weight Problem Perception mediated the contribution of BMI on binge eating outcomes, and WPP contributed significantly to the prediction of binge eating, beyond the risk conferred by established correlates of binge eating ( gender, mood, and cigarette smoking). Results suggest that when assessing risk for binge eating, a one-question assessment of whether or not an individual believes he or she is overweight has significant predictive power.

Over a ten year span the Chicago city schools have received new principles, teachers, and curriculum. Preparing students for college starts in grade school, in preparing for high school. There have been multiple reconstructions including a yearly test and weekly lessons in preparation for that test. This helps students prepare for the riger and high level of education for the students' future.\n
