Irving, L. M. and Berel, S. R. "Comparison of Media-Literacy Programs to Strengthen College Women's Resistance to Media Images." Psychology of Women Quarterly. 25 (2001): 103-111. Wiley Online Library. Web. 3 Nov. 2010. This article is talking about the results of a study that was done among college aged women. It was to see the effects of media images on their body image. It was done with 110 undergraduate women to see what they thought about the images the media was projecting toward them and how it effects how they see themselves. It was also done to see what would help stop this from continuing to happen to these young women. Throughout the study it was shown that with the help of this "intervention" the women began to question whether or not the images were really what ideal beauty looks like. This shows that through media literacy something like this can be stopped and women can feel better about their body image.

Future of Children; Spring2009, Vol. 19 Issue 1, p37-51, 15p, 1 Graph This article looks at the U.S education system and international student education in a different light, unlike most of the other articles; it looks at how the U.S Education system, in reality is secondary to that of many foreign country's. His point of comparison is the students emerging from these educational systems. He states how the perception of poor academia amongst U.S children actally holds, since on average U.S kids perform less, and have more studying disabilities than do children from other foreign countries. I personally believe there is a lot of truth in this article based on the facts and realities i myself experience. No offense intended, just academic debate.

"Plasma endothelin-1 and nitrate levels in Down's syndrome with complete atrioventricular septal defect-associated pulmonary hypertension: a comparison with non-Down's syndrome children." This article compares the rapid and aggressive development of pulmonary vascular disease of children with down syndrom with non DS patients. To do this they compared the role of plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1) and nitrate levels with complete AVSD-associated pulmonary hypertension (PH). The study included 20 patients, a mixture of boys girls, DS patients and non DS patients. They found that there was no significant difference betweent the two.

Sutcliffe, Paul A., et al. "Effect of Attentional State on Frequency Discrimination: A Comparison of Children With ADHD On and Off Medication." This is journal article examines the difference between children with ADHD on and off medication. The researchers ran a test that judged the children's auditory awareness. The researchers tested both kids with ADHD and kids without ADHD. The results showed that children with ADHD performed much worse without the stimulant medication than the children without ADHD. This shows that auditory awareness can directly be influenced by the attention status of children who have ADHD.

This article speaks about the reluctance there is to move forward with the times and adopt new technological innovations. This reluctance from teachers may be from the fact that they believe that Facebook is the same as email, just a way to communicate, and see no reason for change. The article also agrees with the counter in that educational institutions see Facebook as a way to communicate with their students, and do just that. They see it as a way to almost relate with their students and to keep them informed. It also talks about how big of an influence social networks and the Internet are in students lives and how beneficial it is to integrate it into learning in the classroom. The article addresses the ways colleges are using Facebook to connect.

It talks about what college students think the positive and negatives of drinking are.Their attitudes towards alcohol are examined and outcomes of continuous drinking are revealed.

Ohio Link. Web. 18 Nov. 2010. This was a study that compared athletes and non-athletes at highly selective colleges. First, it compares conclusions people have come to about student-athletes. On one hand, some believe that athletics help to develop the person in a wide variety of ways. On the other hand, some believe it takes up too much time and takes away from their academics. This study basically shows that it varies from person to person, depending on the particular school they attend.

This study focused on student athletes for four years at selective liberal arts and Ivy League schools. It said students spending ten or more hours had less academic credentials than non-athletes, but were not lower than expected for an athlete. It talks about engagement in the community, sociability, extroversion, drinking, and academic performance of both athletes and non-athletes.

Waller, David. "Literacy and Music Literacy: Language A Pedagogical Asymmetry." OhioLINK. Web. 19 November 2010 Music education discourse is marked by frequent comparisons of music to language, and of music notation to written language. However, the role played by writing, as opposed to reading, is often overlooked in that discourse, as well as in classroom practices and workbooks. Consequently, far too many students can read music notation but not write it. Failing to achieve full literacy in their field, they develop a habit of deference toward printed music. Plato argues in the Phaedrus that we should not take that which is written too seriously. Letting students write music will help them to achieve the perspective of Plato-himself a writer.
