"We, at GFAR and CGIAR, are committed to integrate, stimulate and mentor the involvement of youth in all of our collective programs. At GCARD3, the Third Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development, we are taking any opportunity to live up to that commitment. We want to use the upcoming GCARD3 global event to pilot a number of innovative projects and approaches. One of these projects is "YAP", the Youth Agripreneurs Project. "YAP" is a pilot project targeting young agricultural entrepreneurs or "agripreneurs"."

"Organizations in developing countries are invited to submit a project proposal that addresses a horticultural problem facing local farmers, which would also include the involvement of a graduate student consultant. The maximum funding available for each project is $2,000 USD, with funding available for 15 projects. The deadline to submit proposals is Jan. 18, 2016"

"Youth in agriculture has been high on the development agenda. While many policies and programs are being implemented that should bring youth back to work in agriculture, they are often underpinned by assumptions that could undermine the effective augmentation of food security and employment. To start the discussion by shedding some light on the do's and don'ts when working with youth, two meetings were organized on youth inclusiveness in agricultural transformation. "

"The EC will provide funding to collaborate with Burkina Faso on strategies and institutional reforms that improve agricultural sustainability and nutritional security in Burkina Faso. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs in countries of the EU and countries of the ACP agreement (including Burkina Faso). BE PART OF THE CHANGE! By 2050, there will be around 10 billion hungry people in the world and less farmland and resources than there's ever been. The solutions are keenly debated both in rural and urban society. We believe there is a need for young leaders to be engaged in finding sustainable agricultural solutions to the growing global need for safe, nutritious food.

Livelihoods Venture, an investment fund financing innovative social projects, is looking for a passionate and motivated project manager in charge of rural development around the world. Livelihoods is convinced of the necessity to invent a new model that would allow companies to have a hands-on approach to sustainability. One of its main objectives is to set-up and strengthen sustainable supply and value chains. The funds are used to promote projects maximizing both the social and environmental impacts on local communities.

With financial support from the government of Sweden, the AAU will make grants of up to US$600 per person to help post-graduate university students acquire practical skills via internships of 12-24 weeks. The grants are for training purposes only, not for the completion of theses or dissertations. The program is open to students in AAU member institutions in southern and eastern Africa, and in Francophone member institutions. The deadline for applications (English, French) is 15 August 2016.

Under the program Research and Innovation Network for Europe and Africa (RINEA), Africans can apply for mobility grants to promote business, technological, and research partnerships in Europe. The current call focuses on Food Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture, and related fields. The program offers three match-making events, one in Italy and two in Denmark, for which applications are invited from African SMEs, universities, research institutions, and other R&I organizations. The application deadline is 29 April 2016.

To engage youth in agriculture, The MasterCard Foundation and SNV are partners in facilitating access to secure jobs, financial services and skills for young people to grow their own businesses.

Visiting the agricultural development projects supported by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in Mozambique, I was amazed by the number of young faces I saw in the villages. However, the resounding sentiment is that young people do not want to be farmers. This is causing deep concern amongst many over how to keep the growing youth of Mozambique in agriculture. With the 11th highest birth rate in the world, and a growth rate of 2.45% a year, the population of Mozambique is growing, fast. More food will soon be needed to sustain the expanding population.

The Research Council of Norway funds HAVBRUK2 for research in aquaculture, including with international partners. Special priority is given to collaboration with researchers in the EU, USA, Canada, China, Japan, India, Chile, and Brazil. Collaboration with researchers in other countries will also be of interest.

In collaboration with CORAF/WECARD and Canada's IDRC, IITA will support 20 individuals for PhD and masters research in agriculture for development in West and Central Africa. Applications are invited from qualified individuals in Chad, Dem Rep Congo, Sierra Leone, and Togo who are currently registered in PhD. or masters programs in recognized universities, and who are not more than 40 years old. The program particularly invites applications from women. The accepted applicants will be offered coaching and training through IITA to build their research knowledge and skills.

RUFORUM announces a call for applications for research scholarships to support the finalization of PhD research, data analysis, thesis write-up, publication, and dissemination of findings. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to Intra-ACP Academic Mobility students registered in one of the five African programmes listed in the announcement, and who are finalizing their studies. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2015.

Youth are invited to pitch their idea/initiative which engages youth in agriculture and food systems in a 3 minute video outlining how their initiative will help end hunger and malnutrition. All videos will be featured on the Youth Idea Incubator page of the CFS website.

L'Université des Nations Unies Institut des Ressources Naturelles en Afrique (UNU-IRNA) recherche actuellement trois chercheurs pour soutenir l'évaluation des politiques, une composante d'un de ses projets en cours sur les changements climatiques, le commerce agricole et la sécurité alimentaire dans la CEDEAO. Plus précisément, les chercheurs retenus devraient: Aider à la calibration des modèles empiriques pour comprendre le lien entre les changements climatiques, le commerce agricole et la sécurité alimentaire dans CEDEAO; Exécutez les modèles empiriques pour déterminer les impacts des changements climatiques sur les systèmes de production agricole et la sécurité alimentaire dans la CEDEAO ; Élaborer et évaluer des scénarios d'adaptation pour atténuer les impacts des changements climatiques sur la production agricole, le commerce agricole et la sécurité alimentaire dans la CEDEAO ; Produire au moins un document de travail et un document de politique sur les questions susmentionnées.
