The Universidad ISA of Santiago, the University of Stirling in the UK and the University of Guyana have held the constituent assembly of the Institute of Aquaculture and Aquaponics-INAQUAP- in Georgetown, Guyana, on October 28, 2015. The Institute of Aquaculture and Aquaponics (INAQUAP) is being established as a key outcome of the project funded by the ACP-EU EDULINK II called "PESCADO - Pioneering Education for Sustainability of Caribbean Aquaculture Development & Opportunities" - its acronym in English.

SIERRA LEONE - The School of Natural Resources Management Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries management at Njala University has conducted a training workshop on sustainable integrated aquaculture - fish cum rice and poultry production.

On a regular basis, the AQUAEXCEL project invites proposals from European research groups for scientific research that utilises the facilities of any of the participating Aquaculture Research Infrastructures. The AQUAEXCEL project unites major aquaculture experimental facilities with capacity to undertake experimental trials on a selection of commercially important fish aquaculture species and system types. These facilities are made available to the research community for Transnational Access (TNA) with the support of the European Union 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (Infrastructures). The facilities available cover the entire range of production systems (recirculation, flow‐through, cage, hatchery and pond systems); environments (freshwater and marine, cold, temperate and warm water); scales (small, medium and industrial scale); fish species (salmon, trout, sea bass, sea bream, cod, common carp etc.); and fields of expertise (nutrition, physiology, health and welfare, genetics, engineering, monitoring and management technologies).

"The largest European Commission research project is being developed to enhance the European aquaculture production by removing production bottlenecks of emerging species, producing new products and accessing new markets. It is Diversify project, which is funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission and had its kickoff meeting at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research in Greece in January 2014. Coordinated by Dr. Constantinos C Mylonas of the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture, a total of 38 partners from Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom, Germany and Hungary have participated in this 5-year-long research. The Netherlands is represented by Wageningen University's DLO, The National Institute for Fisheries Studies and the Technical University of Eindhoven."

The Research Council of Norway funds HAVBRUK2 for research in aquaculture, including with international partners. Special priority is given to collaboration with researchers in the EU, USA, Canada, China, Japan, India, Chile, and Brazil. Collaboration with researchers in other countries will also be of interest.

Un accord de don de 100 millions de dirhams a été signé, ce mardi 16 juin à Rabat, entre l'Agence japonaise de coopération internationale (JICA) et le ministère de l'Agriculture et de la pêche maritime pour la construction d'un centre de recherche et de technologie conchylicoles dans la baie d'Amsa. L'accord a été signé par le représentant de la JICA au Maroc, Koichi Shoji, et le ministre de l'Agriculture et de la pêche maritime, Aziz Akhannouch, en présence de l'ambassadeur du Japon au Maroc, Tsuneo Kurokawa. Dans une allocution, M. Shoji a indiqué que ce projet vise à promouvoir la recherche en aquaculture de mollusques, y compris la production de plants de fruits de mer. Il s'inscrit en droite ligne de la stratégie du royaume pour développer l'aquaculture et l'industrie de la pêche à travers, notamment, le renforcement des capacités de l'Institut national de recherche halieutique (INRH).

"(Agence Ecofin) - Au Mali, le gouvernement vient de lancer un projet-pilote dans le secteur aquacole. D'une valeur de 2,1 millions de dollars, cette initiative permettra la formation puis l'installation de jeunes sans-emplois dans le secteur de l'aquaculture grâce à l'usage de cages flottantes. Dans ce cadre, 100 jeunes bénéficient déjà d'une formation sous l'égide de l'Agence pour la Promotion de l'Emploi des Jeunes (APEJ), indique Xinhua. «Après la formation, l'agence offrira à ces jeunes l'équipement nécessaire à leur installation et leur octroiera un prêt pour débuter leurs activités. Chaque cage flottante génèrera cinq emplois, soit un total de 500 emplois à terme» déclare l' l'APEJ dans un communiqué où elle rappelle que le remboursement de ces prêts s'étalera sur trois ans."

Rome (© 2016 Afriquinfos)- La République du Cameroun et le Fonds international de développement agricole des Nations Unies (FIDA) ont signé ce vendredi 29 janvier, un accord dans le cadre d'un projet de promotion de l'entreprenariat aquacole (PPEA), qui permettra la création de 1.500 nouveaux emplois et de 300 petites entreprises qui seront gérées par des femmes et des jeunes.
