"Now, there's a special, modified, pocket flash drive that works as usual with PCs and Macs, but can transfer and stream files to popular mobile devices without standard USB ports, such as Apple's iPad and iPhone, Amazon's Kindle Fire and many other Android devices."
"Many people wouldn't take a second look at the $29 iPad Camera Connection Kit because they could simply transfer photos and videos from their computer via iTunes. But, this little unsuspecting accessory has hidden powers, with which comes great responsibility. "
"You don't need an infographic to tell you that your students (and probably most of your friends, colleagues, and family members) have their nose pointed towards a screen more often than not. While I'm definitely not above chastising my dinner mates for getting too cosy with their phone instead of interacting with everyone at the table, I wouldn't necessarily transfer that same open shaming technique to a classroom. Studies show that so much of our daily media interactions are screen based - 90%, in fact. So while your inclination may be to have students focusing on one thing at a time to make sure they're getting all they need to out of an activity, maybe you should think again."

All video games are not created equal.
I wouldn't recommend we encourage youth to play just any game. I doubt transferable skills are learned by repeatedly flapping a bird into a drainage tube. The best educational interventions are those that meet youth where they are and use the energy associated with that space to encourage learning.
So where are the youth? Minecraft."
"I always try to do a video or something sweet to show the mom's of my students just how special they are! This week, as we celebrate our moms, my students did some "App Smashing" (When you use one or more apps together to achieve a final product) with ABCya's Word Cloud App, Photo and Video Transfer Over Wifi, Explain Everything, and I put it all together in iMovie."
"Yes, as a parent or teacher you might feel you are in a constant fight and you may win some and loose some battles but if we are careful, I believe we will win the war. With some thought and a positively mindset, this screen time might create a generation of thinking, creative and collaborative people. By setting up structures to help the children self-manage their screen time, I am hoping that I can already see the benefits of what these apps have to offer transferred to 'real-life' with two girls who are happy to help, keen to solve problems and create projects of their own design. Make sure you make some time to showcase the results of their more productive device use and it will encourage more."

his is one of the keys to judging student learning of the future because if individuals, like Daniel Pink, are correct and the future belongs to pattern-seekers, it is imperative that students are capable of seeing these connections across all disciplines.
This is one of the keys to judging student learning of the future because if individuals, like Daniel Pink, are correct and the future belongs to pattern-seekers, it is imperative that students are capable of seeing these connections across all disciplines.
Beyond these activities it is important that students ask themselves the following questions:
What are the foundational elements of this topic?
What caused people to begin exploring this topic?
How has this topic been altered over the course of time?
How will this topic change over the course of the next fifty years?
What other ideas from the outside can be integrated into this topic in the future to make it better?
Using the answers to the questions above, what qualities can I take from this topic to prompt deeper thinking about other areas of life that interest me?
Instead of collecting the “assessment”, what would happen if you collected student answers to these questions instead?

"Noterize allows you to view and annotate any available PDF or PowerPoint document. The built-in web browser enables direct importing of files from the web (including university and corporate sites), while integration with Box.net and Dropbox makes transferring documents between your computer and iPad as simple as can be. Once your documents are in Noterize, use the PDF search functionality to quickly find what you are looking for.

"What is an inquiry diary?
Essentially, it is a large book (or digital equivalent - but more on that later) into which the inquiry is recorded as it unfolds - one of those big, spiral bound sketch books is ideal. Some teachers construct a diary for each inquiry while others use a single diary for the whole year. Some teachers reserve the diary for documentation of the unplanned, 'spontaneous' investigations that occur throughout the year (such as the sad death of the preying mantis at St. Fidelis Primary early this year!). Entries can be made at various times throughout the process - daily, weekly, sporadic or regular. The teacher often scribes students' suggestions or invites a small group to work on an entry. Importantly, the diary gives us an opportunity to reinforce the language of inquiry and the transferable skills and strategies that are being used within it. They can be as simple or as detailed as suits. "
"I went home last week and did everything one normally does over the holidays: I got together with my family and, in the spirit of Christmas, grilled my teenage cousins about what apps they're using on their iPhones.
They named two of the usual suspects, Snapchat and Instagram. They laughed in my face when I asked what they thought about Facebook. "It's for mums," one explained to me.
Insightful, but not out of the ordinary. Then my 13-year-old cousin asked me if I knew what AirDrop was.
AirDrop is a feature on newer-model Apple devices. It uses WiFi and Bluetooth to let you transfer any kind of file - photos, videos, phone contacts, and even Map locations - from one person or device to another nearby."
