  •
"Hot Apps for HOTS is an excellent guide packed full of apps and activities to support higher order thinking skills (HOTS). I learned about this eBook from a post by Tony Vincent in Learning in Hand almost a month ago and since then I downloaded the guide and read it from cover to cover and was really thrilled by the depth and practicality of the learning materials provided by the authors: Lisa Johnson and Yolanda."

Stick Around - Play and Create iPad Puzzles | iPad Apps for School - 2 views

  •
"Stick Around is a new iPad app developed by Tony Vincent and Morris Cooke (the developer of the popular Explain Everything app). Stick Around gets its name of the sticker element of the app. The app contains educational puzzles that students solve by dragging stickers into the correct locations on the puzzles. The puzzles are essentially matching activities that can be customized by the teachers. The best aspect of the app is that teachers can create their own puzzles"

Which Adapter Do I Need to Mirror My iPad? - Learning in Hand - 0 views

  •
"You can use an adapter and a cable to mirror exactly what's on your iPad's display onto a projector or television screen. When picking out an adapter, you need to know if your device has a Lightning or 30-pin Dock connector. New iPads and iPad minis have a Lightning connector. iPad 2 has a Dock connector."

Making Compassion the Fifth C of Learning - The Learner's Way - 1 views

  •
The question of what learning matters most to our students is one that I return to regularly. A fascinating range of models are available each with similar elements but presented in a slightly different manner. Most could be summarised by the 'Four C's' model outlined in 'Most Likely to Succeed' by Tony Wagner and Ted Dintersmith. Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity are vital and each plays an important role in allowing us to manage the complexity of modern day life. Beyond being relevant to success in the classroom the Four C's are the foundations of life-long learning but I question if alone they are enough. I believe we must include a fifth; compassion.

Tony Vincent's Learning in Hand - Blog - iPod touch in Canby School District - 0 views

  •
"Pod touches are making a difference in Oregon. The Canby School District completed a pilot last year and those behind the program are generous about sharing what they've learned. I've been reading the school district's wiki for some time, and a recent article written about their pilot on O'Reilly Radar is impressive."

Infusing the Basics With the Spirit of Innovation | Edutopia - 1 views

  •
"In our opinion, one of the biggest misconceptions in education is the idea that "the basics" must precede innovation. While foundational skills such as literacy and numeracy will always be necessary, there's no reason why we can't teach them alongside innovative practices."

The Partnership for 21st Century Skills says that mastering collaboration skills requires the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. It also requires the ability to "be helpful and make necessary compromises to accomplish a common goal.""
