I will use this website to support my graphing module. I will use it to provide both visuals and hands-on simulations. The instructor will provide the visuals with directions. The students will then get to attempt the problems on their own. This website will provide students with the practice they need.

A look at the school's curriculum confirms a far more ambitious and hands-on approach to education -- after all, the school does abide by New York State education standards. The 20 to 25 students in each class, each equipped with a laptop, attend four 90-minute periods each day, rather than study individual subjects.

A website to provide the basics of technology. It is particularly great for "digital immigrants". There is even a section that acts as an orientation to Google Drive.

In Module 3 of my class on "The Politics of Dr. Seuss," we will be exploring the political cartoons that Dr. Seuss and others produced during World War 2. These cartoons mostly appeared in PM, a New York newspaper, from 1941 to 1943. I discovered these cartoons in a book called Dr. Seuss & Co. Go to War, and I had planned to scan and upload cartoons from the book. But I searched in MERLOT and was so pleased to find a treasure trove of hundreds of cartoons! I can draw on these for my Powerpoint presentation to the class and direct students to this website to find even more.

508 applies only to websites of the federal government and requires certain provisions to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access them. 508 also offers guidance for software companies and web developers but the standards cannot be enforced. Several states have adopted the 508 standards as state law. New York is moving in this direction this fall as well.

This screen reader simulation will provide insight into what it might be like to experience a website through the use of a screen reader. Screen readers are software programs that narrate the text of the desktop and any applications used for those who have visual impairments.

This site has a wealth of resources for those interested in learning more about assistive technology in general as well as those researching specific products.  AbleData provides resources for users, product reviews and a searchable database of companies that manufacture assistive software and devices, as well as a library that allows users to search for publications and other information about assistive technology.  It is a dynamic website that is updated frequently so it helps users to stay current on a rapidly changing field.

This website provides useful ethical texts (excerpts) and discussion questions. It would be a good resource to have the learners focus on one piece of work. The selection of articles may not be perfect, but for an introductory course it does not matter.

This site provides a free place for users to share the video tutorials that they create. As long as your video is about Moodle, you can contribute to Moodle Tutorials. Every video on the Moodle Tutorials website is accompanied by an embed code and a download option.
