Diigo 3.0: The all-powerful personal, social bookmarking service | Webware : Cool Web a... - 0 views

  • I recommend Diigo, especially with the plug-in. It's a complex tool but if you take a few minutes to learn what it can do and how it does it, it can make you a more productive, smarter Web user.
  • There's also a very nice new browser sidebar that shows you a lot of very useful and focused information, including your own latest bookmarks, those from your Diigo friends, and most cleverly, the Diigo users who have also saved information from the page you're visiting as well as the site itself.
  • lets you clip and save text from Web pages, or just page URLs themselves

Bookmarking Meets Social Networking Meets Knowledge | Lisa Reviews - 0 views

  • Every so often you come across a service that really fits into your life. Diigo is that for me. I never understood what the excitement was over sites like delicious. I never saw any practical use for it. However, I see many uses for Diigo. A big one for me is how you are able to use it as a research and knowledge tool and how it will allow me to be more time efficient. For one of my freelancing jobs, we talk a lot over email since we are all over the country. I hate when I find a cool article and then I have to send it to each person (I am still trying to figure out how to make email lists on Gmail). This service would allow me to bookmark the article and each person on my team can then decide if it pertains to them (instead of me trying to figure that out). You can set up different groups too. My personal group wouldn’t have to wade through my work bookmarks. Another feature that I love is that you can highlight articles and leave notes for yourself. Currently, I have a ton of bookmarks that I did, and I can’t remember what was important in those articles and why I bookmarked them. When doing research, I would love to be able to note that I have already looked at different web pages.
  • On the more personal side, there are several features that are just fun to play with. First, you have People Like Me. That feature will show you what other people who have bookmarked the same site as you also bookmarked. It will also suggest people that are close to you in your bookmarking behavior. You are able to import your bookmarks from other sites, so you don’t have waste your time doing that again.
  • It is a tad overwhelming at first when you are trying to figure it all out. However, it is worth your time.

Diigo v3: A more social form of bookmarking and annotating | Webby's World - 0 views

  • Diigo v3 places more emphasis on the social aspect of social bookmarking through merging ideas from several different sites together. For example, it takes annotating from Clipmarks, bookmarking from del.icio.us and a facility which suggests websites you may like based on your annotations from StumbleUpon.
  • Diigo v3 has some unique features which I like. When you are on websites, you can view what other users have highlighted and annotated which is useful for group projects where collaboration is necessary. You can also join groups and communities and send private messages to other users. Another interesting feature is WebSlides which lets you view your bookmarks as a slideshow which is useful if you can’t always remember the name of the site but you can remember the way it looks!
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • So, some key points about Diigo 3: Easy to share annotations on certain websites; useful for collaboration Improved social features WebSlide browse through websites based on screenshots. Clipmarks is like cutting something out of a paper; Diigo is highlighting something out of one and annotating it!
  • I believe Diigo is probably more useful as a research tool than as a social site but it is nice to merge the two together!

Diigo 3.0 social bookmarking tool adds recommendations - Download Squad - 0 views

  • The service has also added a recommendation engine. Since users are constantly saving and tagging web content, Diigo has a huge database of web pages that may feature similar content. So if you like pages about Windows freeware, Diigo probably knows that and when you click on the recommendations feed you should be able to find pages that you'll like.

Diigo releases new version, promising that social bookmarking ain't dead yet ... - 0 views

  • Interestingly, Ren points out Delicious as the only competitor to his service that’s still innovating. However, it looks like traffic to Delicious is falling off, while StumbleUpon has spiked upward according to Alexa, Compete and Quantcast (click through for the charts). That may mean that the average user is actually interested in a less full-featured service. Around the corner is Delicious 2.0 (coverage on that from TechCrunch), so we’ll soon have a chance to see.

Diigo v3: Improves Social Bookmarking : Somewhat Frank :: web tech life :: blog by Fran... - 0 views

  • Check out this quick demo video about Diigo v3 and find out just what it can do. Please note though, this video surprisingly showcased a screen-shot of TechCrunch and not SOMEWHAT FRANK - there must be some sort of mix up. :)  Nonetheless, Diigo v3 is pretty impressive. I like the way that Diigo enables users to create lists of bookmarks that can then be viewed a number of different ways (list views, web slide view, etc). I also like its bookmarking toolset as it offers a number of innovative ways to capture and annotate content.

Family Matters » » Diigo v3 Will Knock Your Socks Off! - 0 views

  • Today Diigo released version 3 of their research and collaboration tool. I can describe it in one word - WOW!!! I’ve been a great fan of this social bookmarking system for quite a while, but this upgrade puts Diigo into a league of its own. The Diigo staff have made their platform a researcher’s dream. There’s a new browser toolbar, a new user dashboard, upgraded groups, expanded user profiles, a new comment wall and a platform-specific messaging system.

  • I have found Diigo to be the best bookmarking tool on the web, hands-down
  • believe me, you have to give this new version a whirl, especially if you do any sort of collaborative work or if you blog or if you’re a researcher. For a great overview, see Social Bookmarking 2.0 — Diigo sets the standard for others to follow (bub.licio.us). That entry gives you the nuts-and-bolts of what Diigo does. An aspect I really appreciate (which isn’t stressed in the bub.licio.us article) is the control users have over whether or not to make a bookmark public, keep it private, or share it with others to a group. Another great feature is that users can make their annotations (the “sticky” notes) public, private, or shared to a group — and these settings are easy to change within a single bookmark, too. Diigo is quite simply fantastic! Congratulations to the whole team for bringing this to the web.

Diigo 3.0 Beta is Live at LifeClever ;-) Tips for Design and Life - 0 views

  • I’ve sung the praises of social bookmarking service Diigo in the past here at Lifeclever. It archives a full cache of every page in case the original goes down, lets you highlight and annotate Web pages, and it publishes your links to all the other social bookmarking sites automatically. What’s not to love? Well, I guess some people are perfectionists, because the team at Diigo has just a launched new and improved version 3 in beta. I’ve been playing with it for a few weeks and, for my purposes, it offers a few nifty improvements. Tags are listed alphabetically by default, and the Diigo plugin for Firefox offers a “Twitter This” option which sends your link to Twitter as a tinyurl link. The new Diigo also offers spiffy social networking/recommendation functionality, but that’s not my bag, although it may be yours. Either way, there’s really no reason anyone should use the Yahoo’s stagnant Del.icio.us service anymore. Diigo’s much prettier and it runs faster too! Go import your Del.icio.us bookmarks today.

Diigo Releases Version 3 - Beyond Bookmarks - 0 views

  • The point here is, Diigo is not really a bookmarking site. The essence of this tool is research and secondarily productive community.
  • Diigo has a long way to go in terms or aesthetics, more continuity and if we must “coolness”, but as a research and productivity community - it has no competitor. That is all I have to say about that.

  • using all the function of Diigo’s innovation and refinements, has the ability to help build relationships based around perhaps our greatest asset – knowledge. Facebook, MyBlogLog, Digg and a host of other communities are based

Journey to the East: Diigo - 0 views

  • For those that read a lot on the web and want to keep track of what they uncover, Diigo just delivered release 3.0. The tool offers a number of social booking marking features, but its core functionality is being able to highlight words, phrases, sections of text as well as graphics on a web page. The annotated pages are bookmarked, and optionally tagged so they may be retrieved at a later date. The highlighting facilitates finding the important sections on the page at a later date. It's a great tool for researching a specific topic.

iJump.co.nz » Change » Diigo (social bookmarking 2.0 style) - my new best friend - 0 views

  • Diigo (pronounced Dee’go) is a great social bookmarking site if you like to bookmark, highlight, put sticky notes (comments) on certain information you’re interested in when searching the web. Diigo is great for research. If you collect a lot of information like me, this is a great place to store everything. I know when I start to research a topic offline it usually means a tonne of books on the desk, bits and pieces of loose paper everywhere, writing pads, folders, paper, pens, highlighters. I think you get the image.  Diigo does all of the above and so much more online. And if that isn’t enough you can even blog from there too.  The tutorials are very clear and easy to understand.  I know I seriously sound like an infomercial right now but I think I’ve found a site I didn’t know I was looking for it.  Over the Easter break I’m locking myself away with a mission to learn how to drive it!
