delay in adding bookmarks? - 14 views

bookmark bug

I just added about 15 pages to diigo using the toolbar.. but only the first 3 seem to have shown up on the site.. is there a delay in adding bookmarks?

Or have i just lost about 10 pages that i may well not be able to find again?
Guess i'd better wait and see if they show up before i add any more...

Grr.. goes off to search for those apges again...

ahh. might have figured it out. Because i imported all my bookmarks from delicious I have some weird tags like "work/programming" and "work/design".

It seems to be the pages i added these tags to that didn't get bookmarked. (and clicking on those tags in diigo brings up an error.)

maybe tags that diggo can't handle should be flagged on import and you given a chance to change them? If that is indeed the problem.
And it should definately flag up if bookmarking fails for any reason!

Luckily the sessonsaver extension came to my rescue and i've got back all the sites i thought i'd bookmarked. Now i just have to bookmark them all again :-(
    (and fix my tags!)

sgst: sort by visited, integrated search results, etc.. - 58 views

discussion feature suggestion

Just installed the toolbar, and gotta say im impressed. I was reluctant to use diigo because i hate installing toolbars.. but i was sorry to see the diigolet didn't support multiple sites. Thought about deleting account but now i'm glad i tried the toolbar.

    Few suggestions though:

1 - Favicons in toolbar bookmarks dropdown.
This would make it much easier to pick individual items from the list.

2 - Sort links by frequency of use.
This would be really handy.. so your most commonly used sites were always at the top of the list. I've set up a "@daily" tag of my most visited sites.. but some are more visited than others.. and right now its hard to pick them out of the long list. (spurl had this and it was very useful)

3 - Some way to make diigo toolbar search results open in new tabs, like i have my firefox search results set to do. Different behaviour leads to confusion.

    4 - Integrated search results.
Maybe there is already a way to do this, but:
be cool to get a delicious style results page that shows results from your bookmarks, public bookmarks and the web all on one page.

Also be nice to get combined results from several services, eg: google + diigo + delicious + youtube + flickr.. or however you set up your search results. But that is more of a vague wish for the future.

5 - Bookmarkto multiple sites from the diigolet. Lots of people don't like installing toolbars.. plus it takes up less space and it can be used on other pcs more easily.

6 - Don't die like spurl, shadows and rawsugar seem to be.

7 - Thumbnails from magnolia, or another site that provides them.. plus links to cached copies on those sites/web archive/gcache, etc..

8 - tag suggestions that other users have used on that page.

9 - tracked changes alerts.. much like changenotes, but integrated into the whole notes/bookmarking system.

10 - OpenID support. Would be really handy.. especially as i already use it for ma.gnolia

11 - add space after you click a tag in the drop down list.. so you can just continue typing the next tag without having to press space.

You may already have some of these.. i'm only just exploring. Thanks again!

both. i mostly navigate entirely with the toolbar.. and currently i've had to tag my most used bookmarks with a "@daily" tag and set up a filter. However s few of those bookmarks are used far more often (gmail, google reader, etc..) and it would be realy handy if they were at the top of the list.

If diigo just tracked how many times you clicked on a link (from the toolbar or the site) and then gave you an option of sorting by frequency of use then it would be SOO handy. (and then i could even dump my @daily tag as the unfiltered list would automatically bring back my most used bookmarks. )

ps/ i'm imagining thisworking something like the CustomizeGoogle firefox extension, which inserts a few links into the google results.
if the toolbar "intercepted" firefox searches, and inserted any matching diigo bookmarks in an expandaly div then that would be really handy!

    > you mean bookmarking to sites like delicious?

exactly. I've actually now come to really like the toolbar (good job!) but having this ability from the diigolet as well would be really handy. though it might mean you'd need to store info for those sites in the user account on diigo.

this would be a very helpful minor "quick fix"

no it doesn't. second life is all hype, but its acual active users is a mere proportion of all that.

Some clever press releases managed to convince a lot of politicians and people that second life was the "next big thing".. but it seems to be mostly press hype.

Still, sweden bought into it enough to open a virtual embassy.. so its ben good for a few laughs as well. And i guess it couldn't hurt.
