"recommended tag" = useless - 94 views

recommended tags

I am finding that the recommended tags are virtually useless.

I, of course, have no idea how Diigo comes up with the recommended tags, but I have found they are almost always completely irrelevant.

would it be possible to change the system, so that the words of the title of the webpage are used to generate the tags, while also leaving out articles (a, the), prepositions (in at...etc), and conjunctions (of, but, etc). In other words, the diigo recommended tags should just be the nouns and verbs of the web page title.

I know this is not perfect, but I think it would be a pretty good start to a much more intuitive recommended tag system.

Of course, this is all in addition to tags that the Diigo community has already added. In my case, this is rarely an option as most of the stuff I bookmark is a first time for diigo.

Sidebar: Refresh button - 98 views

First I should point out I have never used a sidebar before, despite all the applications I use.

However, with the Diigo sidebar I have found, for the first time, a sidebar that is useful and works brilliantly and almost seemlessly. In short, I love it.

I have notices that there seems to be a delay between bookmarking a page and its appearance in the sidebar. A bookmark may be available on the diigo web, but not appear in the sidebar for a while.

Indeed, it does not appear that there is anyway to refresh the sidebar except to close and reopen: and even that may not still update the bookmarks that appear in the sidebar.

As far as I can see, the only time the sidebar refreshes is when the browser is closed and restarted.

In short, it would be useful if there was some kind of automatic refresh in the sidebar, or, at the very least, a refresh button, in order to keep the sidebar up to date.

As ever, thanks for a fantastic service.

Diigo Navigationtoolbar menu -- NOT an option - 25 views

I note that with the new version of Diigo, a Diigo drop down menu appears on the Navigation toolbar.

There does not appear to be an option. There should be.

I'm quite happy with all the toolbar buttons.

I'm happy for it to be installed automatically, to bring it to new the attention of users, but I do not need the Navigation Menu. Please provide an option to remove this after installation.

'Bookmark this Link to Diigo' very erratic, doesn't work - 39 views

The new function 'bookmark this link to Diigo' from the context menu often does not work.

    For example,

    a) At the New York Times website, the function works: the URL and the title is imported correctly and thus bookmarked by diigo.

    b) At this website (Diigo Forums) the title is imported but the URL is chopped (the first part of the URL is removed). The link does NOT get bookmarked in diigo.

    c) At the BBC News website (news.bbc.co.uk) the URL is chopped and the title does not get imported. So, again, the link does not get bookmarked.

All of these sites work with the analogous delicious function ('Tag this link' from the context menu).

    Cheers for the greatest service.

To bookmark a page in Diigo you must actually viewing that page.

Please could you add an option to the context menu to bookmark a link (as delicious does.)

Sometimes it's not necessary to go to a page, or I just want to save it for later viewing.

    Cheers

    NO.

The add bookmark function only bookmarks the page you are viewing.

I want to bookmark a LINK on a page (without actually navigating to that page).

For example. I want to go to the bottom of this page.

I want to right click on 'diigo blog' and bookmark that link. I do not actually want to navigate to the diigo blog itself. I just want to bookmark the link for later reference.

Here's the reason why: I use a RSS reader that gives me excerpts from stories. I do not need to to go to the actual page. But, the reader also gives me the link. I'd like to use diigo to bookmark those links.

Note delicious has this function under 'tag this link.'

    I'm using delicious with firefox.

    it's not in the settings.

Assuming you have the delicious extension for firefox installed, hover your cursor over any link, right click, and a 'tag this link' option will appear on the context menu
