"Parent Teacher Network is one of the most valuable tools available to any parent group. Communication is key to reaching the goals set by each parent group. With PTN all your information is accessible at any computer. No more stacks of papers, flipping through it to see which parent is signed up to do what event.
  •
Parent Teacher Network is a great way for teachers to communicate with parents. They can create a group and have forums, discussions, mass emails, and announcements set up for that group. This gives the parents and the teacher a specific line of communication so that messages can get across.

6.4 Candidates use technology in their own learning process and to change their current educational practice. The Library of Congress Online offers a Teacher's Resource page that provides self-paced modules for professional development with completion certificate awarded, links to classroom materials that meet the educational standards of each state, lesson plans, a blog for teachers, and much more. I recommend completing the Introduction to the Library of Congress Module under Professional Development as a starting point.

6.7 Candidates use tools such as databases and spreadsheets for sorting, compiling, and analyzing data gathered from a variety of sources.
  •
I think we were stuck with the least appealing website of the day topic. Databases and spreadsheets? Seriously? I guess that is what I get for sitting in the back of the class. But I think the Engrade online gradebook that you found is way cooler than the one I found. Nice!
  •
I agree with the least appealing, I wasn't exactly sure how to go about finding a site where you could do spreadsheets but this one is a good one, as I've seen a few teachers I know use it. I think it would be a useful tool for a good connection with parents.

There are a variety of lesson plans as well as interactive "gizmos" that will help students learn. Students can do the interactive portion and then be asked to complete the lesson plan. It's such a helpful site that will benefit the students and teachers.

This website allows for teachers to post grades, attendance, assignments, and an assignment calendar for students and their parents. It also allows the teacher to easily create seating charts, instantly send alerts to parents via email or text, and it allows for the data to be exported to Excel if needed. I see this as a great tool for teachers to communicate to one another grades in other classes as well. The link below provides a demonstration all of the wonderful abilities teachers, students, and parents will have if the website is used to its maximum potential. http://gradebookportal.com/Videos/Premium%20Demo_Final/Premium%20Demo_Final.htm
