    "In 1994, Dr. Christopher Moersch developed the Levels of Technology Implementation (LoTi) scale in an effort to accurately measure authentic classroom technology use. This scale focuses on the use of technology as an interactive learning medium because this particular component has the greatest and lasting impact on classroom pedagogy and is the most difficult to implement and assess. The challenge is not merely to use technology to achieve isolated tasks (e.g., word processing a research paper, creating a multimedia slide show, browsing the Internet), but rather to integrate technology in an exemplary manner that supports purposeful problem-solving, performance-based assessment practices, and experiential learning--all vital characteristics of the Target Technology level established by the CEO Forum on Education and Technology."

The study addressed eight areas, in the following sequence: * Estimated the contributions of education and innovation (such as patents, R&D spending) to U.S. and global economic growth * Analyzed the relationship between education and access to middle-class status since 1967 and projected to 2012 * Projected the supply and demand for education in the United States to 2012 * Analyzed the relationship between educational attainment and occupational competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities, work styles, work contexts, values, and interests) based on the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network (O*Net) data * Measured educational adequacy against criteria that included employability and middle-class jobs * Estimated the vulnerability of U.S. jobs to offshoring based on the characteristics of the jobs and the skills of current job holders, as reported in O*Net * Estimated the stock and growth of the global supply of educated workers

Concepts are applied throughout the course as students design engaging learning experiences using current techniques and technologies. The goal of the course is to promote active learning solutions based on proven design and development trends and research-based practices in engagement, game and simulation concepts. "Instructional Design and Development" (LTMS 500) Meets 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in a blended (in person at the IU on Tuesdays and online on Thursdays) format starting June 29 - August 17 Description: The course focuses on the use of an instructional design process to improve learning outcomes, with an emphasis on instructional design and instructional strategy considerations for technology-based learning solutions.     S 339 proposes a new model of education - one that integrates technology and social responsibility into classroom instruction. We will be opening our school to an in-person and online audience on June 9th, 2009 in an event we're calling Dot-to-Dot: A Global Learning Reception. We're expecting an in-person attendance of 500 and an online attendance in the thousands. Students and teachers will be presenting their projects from 1pm-5pm EST; these include a documentary on special education, a documentary about student awareness of genocide that highlights one class's work with Darfur is Dying, a student-written bilingual play about the immigration experience, and public service announcements on social issues, among others. You can participate in person or online. In-person attendees will be able to see these presentations live, and online attendees will be able to see streaming presentations and leave comments for teachers and students. Dot-to-Dot represents the work of 67 teachers, 840 students, and an entire school committed to imagining the future of education.
