"We are developing dynamic Web-based maps, which are a fusion of formal curriculum maps, personal learning records, and community-driven maps. Using established technologies and standards the maps provide 'mash-ups' of information from curriculum databases, ePortfolios and other sources.
The project aims to enhance understanding and navigation of the curriculum and provide a means for students to actively map, contextualise, reflect on, and evidence their learning. The maps will also support collaboration, including sharing, rating and discussion of learning resources linked to specific topics in the maps."
"Tablet computing and personal electronic devices such as iPads promise to have a dramatic impact on education. This Ning network was created to explore new and innovative ways iPads and other portable devices could be used in schools and colleges."

"As firmly as the person at the podium is established in our classrooms, s/he seems even more tenaciously present in workshops and conference sessions... So what [would] you do if you didn't lecture?"
"Here's a look at over 30 content curation tools (mostly free, but some paid/professional tools as well) that will help you cut through the clutter of your information stream to find the gems."
Studying Connectivism in the context of personal 'keeping up to date' rather than in a MOOC context. Acknowledges it is a limited study but it is first steps in this area. Available from our library.
During the past decade, rapid developments in information and communications technology have transformed key social, commercial, and political realities. Within that same time period, working at something less than Internet speed, much of the academic and policy debate arising from these new and emerging technologies has been fragmented. There have been few examples of interdisciplinary dialogue about the importance and impact of anonymity and privacy in a networked society. Lessons from the Identity Trail: Anonymity, Privacy and Identity in a Networked Society fills that gap, and examines key questions about anonymity, privacy, and identity in an environment that increasingly automates the collection of personal information and relies upon surveillance to promote private and public sector goals.

Account of the news reports on Charlotte Berry @talktoteens who was vilified for being a real person on twitter. (Straight from the Street of Shame school of disgraceful journalism)
Two Potential Futures

Glimpses of Future Educationin September, I had the pleasure of
sharing two plausible scenarios for
how the future may take shape. We
could find ourselves living in:
* a vibrant learning grid in which
all of us who care about learning
create a flexible and radically
personalized learning ecosystem
that meets the needs of all
learners, or
* a fractured landscape in which
only those whose families have
the time, money and resources
to customize or supplement their
learning journeys have access to
learning that adapts to and meets
their needs.
Serious games / gamification. This is an interesting model built around personal health. The 'See how it works' link gives a handy diagram to visualise the structure in applying game theory.
