Online sticky notes - 2 views

This is a great collaborative brainstorming tool that will allow all students to contribute, not just those who are willing to put their voice out there. If you like post-it notes, you'll love it! -I'm using it as a brainstorming activity for my students to set up their class goals and "laws" for the class constitution in the first days of school. It's also private in that the students need to have the specific link in order to find the site. I would post that on blackboard.

I'm sure most of you have seen this one, but it does not get old to me. It stimulates creativity in my own thinking as an administrator and teacher. I do not necessarily agree with everything he says - but it is intriguing nonetheless.

I don't normally read the USA Today, but I came across this article and I thought that it hit upon some important points that we need to remember when we deal with students and the idea of history and memory.

"Our tool helps you unblock your thinking by capturing the fragments, letting you stand back and see the structure that was there all the time, and helping you to build on it. Mind mapping is the best way to understand and visualize something. You don't even have to explain it to someone else - explaining things to yourself is a powerful way to learn and understand. Mindomo respects your time, with a carefully selected feature set, platform flexibility, quick setup, and a short learning curve."

"A six-step process for teaching students to formulate their own questions can encourage them to take ownership of their learning, and deepen their understanding of a subject, write Dan Rothstein and Luz Santana, authors of the book, "Make Just One Change: Teach Students to Ask Their Own Questions." The Question Formulation Technique can be used to introduce new material to students, gauge their understanding during a lesson or to help students set a new learning agenda at the end of a unit, the authors write. Harvard Education Letter (September/October 2011)"

Delicious is the "old " style social bookmarking tool replaced by our friend here Diigo~ Diigo should be more powerful than Delicious. Interesting if you find somethings that Delicous does that Diigo does not.
