The best way to enhance your writing is by practice, practice and more practice. Blogs follow a theme usually and journals are ways to put our random thoughts on paper (or in text). Having an online journal with personalized security settings allows us to write whatever our hearts desire without worrying about what our audience might think. I found this site a great blend of personalized journaling and social networking. This is a great site for help with one of the hardest parts of getting started, the intro. MIT offers great help with introduction strategies that I found very useful.

Often I find myself questioning why journalist choose to write articles knowing that the information will bring harm to those currently in the military. My belief on this vacillates with each story.

Writing prompts for when you've got writer's block!

In much the way refrigeration changed food production and consumption, digitization potentially changes everything about the manner in which we produce and consume news. All presumptions about its freshness and perishability vanish. For most of the 20th century, the public had to follow unfolding news, catching it as it presented itself or losing it forever.

This one is old too! but still very interesting I think.

Diana Hacker's book "A Writers Reference" is used in the UMASS Frameworks of Understanding course. The link will allow students to view exercises that are great for writing.
