This is a good website for current events in social studies. Students could refer to this page when looking for current events around the world for a research project. It is also good for the teachers to keep up to date on world events.
This website would be perfect for opening up class each week when talking about Social Studies. It offers a couple of this week in history this happened scenerios. It also offers multiple topics to view such as government, cultures, economics, etc.

I chose this site because social studies can often be a dry, boring,
and uninteresting subject for kids. This site has lots of cool subjects
and topics that can be relevant to kids.
How I'm going to use this site:
I could use this site in several ways. I could use it to talk about current
events that are happening today or I could use it to teach
kids about the past that we can longer experience first hand. This site
could be used as a whole class, or, it could be used independently for
research projects. It's nice too because it's kid focused so they wont
run into topics, pictures, etc., that aren't kid friendly.
This website talks about current events, geography, and holidays. It includes past history around the civil war period and Renaissance. This website contains stories and information about important history periods. Also, there are helpful fun facts and glossaries to help students with social studies.
This site provides information about geography, government, war, middle ages, and many other areas that are studied in school. I like that it provides current events information as well. This site could be used in class if you wanted your students to write about something currently going on in the world, or even to research something from the past.
Instead of just games, this site shows many other resources. I like how this site offers insights to using resources. Teachers can use this to form their own lesson plan along with what sources they should use.
PE/Healthy: I chose this resource because it gives "hot topics" in PE and health, activities to incorporate physical activity in the classroom, and how to adapt lessons for students with physical disabilities. These activities could be used as "brain breaks" or I could find ways to incorporate these activities into content I am already teaching.
I chose this site, because it has a tool box of ideas and strategies to use when teaching a health class to HS students. I would use this site to reference the examples and tools to make sure all curriculum is covered. Such as health eating and daily exercise.
American History is a passion of mine. I chose this site because it has a collaborative place to share lesson plans on the vast amount of topics re: American History. I thought it was well organized as well.

Lesson Plans/Teacher Sharing: I chose this website because it is free and easily accessible; I liked the visuals it included and that they included books that could be used to help teach the lesson. I could use this in my future to find lessons with books I want to read or to find a book for a certain type of lesson.
Scholastic has free access to lesson and unit plans for teachers. You can put in the grade level and the subject and it will give you access to lots of lesson plan options.

This website focuses on showing educators different health issues to utilize in the classroom. One of the main things that caught my eye was the first link to show up: facts about drugs. Because drugs can be a huge issue in middle and high school kids today, it is important for teachers, especially in the health field, to inform kids on the serious affects that drugs can have on the body. Relating lesson plans to student's lives is key for teachers to break though with students.

Language Arts/Reading (2): This website is a great teacher resource that contains interactives, printouts, and other useful tools for the classroom. It is well-organized and easy to use. It is broken down into age categories/grades (elementary through high school). There is a section for parents that contains extended activities, projects, podcasts, etc. that students can complete outside of school which I think is a neat feature. The resources gathered on this website are numerous and helpful. As a future teacher, I would see myself using the Classroom Resources section in order to supplement my lesson plans and include technology in the classroom.
Other: I think this website is a mush-have for all teachers. It has contains several resources, including lesson plans and other student activities. There are also professional development sessions available that would be beneficial to new teachers, especially.
