The author has done a lot of research on different topics to see if the effects of a childs race or social status really have an effect on thier education. They found that children living in poverty have a less chance of succeding in academics. The main point of this article addresses is the African American population, but that is not always completly the case.

The lack of financial literacy knowledge among the youth has caused unease and has inspired new programs designed to help parents teach their children.

It drives home the fact the money alone does not buy happiness. Cross encourages stewardship and that realization that money is a way to share the benefits of life with people who have less.

Both men have seen the devastating effect that financial literacy ignorance has caused on the economy and individuals. They fear that if creditors can lure the youth into debt, our countries youth future is in jeopardy. Their goal is to stop the madness before it starts through education intervention. The article also talks about several different programs promoting financial literacy that have been implemented in different states across the country.

Longitudinal Structural Equation Models of Academic Self-Concept and Achievement: Gender Differences in the Development of Math and English Constructs - 0 views

    This article discusses the great impact that self-concepts have on students' grades and performance, mainly in English and mathematics. These authors found different results than have previously been found in tests; they found that "there were significant positive paths from math self-concepts to subsequent math outcomes but not to subsequent English outcomes." Also, they found that girls had higher English and math grades but lower math self-concepts then boys, these results differ from previous test which claimed that the gender difference was diminishing. These results were interesting due to their difference in regards to other tests conducted.
