How to run TRS2004 in VIsta Hi all as a result of helping Nickrocks with his problems with Vista I thought I would put in here what I found out and what I did to resolve the problems. The problems being helper downloading but not installing content and no existing downloads or custom content being loaded in.

I think you might be talking about the file trainzoptions.txt found under \Auran\TRS2004 Trainzobjectz has a page devoted to tweaking the trainzoptions.txt file, gives helpful explanations of the various settings available etc. So get Trainzobjectz and look in there. http://www.trainzobjectz.co.uk/

Hey Boomer, you can also try kuids 207998:3591 and 207998:3602, which were later versions, BEWARE, read the information carefully to make sure you have the SG versions and which way round you have to merge the maps to get the full route. I played with it quite a bit before I obtained TC3, it's a fabulous route when you have it all set up.

Recently I've been having lots of fun doing the run around with my local trains. When you perform a Run Around you bring in a passenger train to a terminal station, load the passengers, then uncouple the locomotive from the train. You pull forward, then take a passing track and reverse past the consist, switch back to the track the consist is on, and re-couple to the consist. After doing this procedure you head back out on the main line going in the opposite direction.

CMP CHECKLIST-Some things to try. 1. Run ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\TrainsDiag.exe and verify EVERYTHING passes. CMP will not run if OpenGL doesn't pass. 2. Verify that your firewall allows the following: ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\ContentManager.exe ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\Launcher.exe ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\Trainz.exe 3. Start CMP and click Files/Settings/Internet and verify your username and password are correct and in Files/Settings/Miscellaneous verify your User ID is correct. 4. The Assets.tdx file is in the ..\Auran\TRS2006 folder. Assets.bku, a backup copy of Assets.tdx, if present will be in the .\Auran\TRS2006\cache folder. Assets.bku is not required but Assets.tdx is required for proper operation of CMP. 5. If Launcher will not start Trainz kill the ..\Auran\TRS2006\Video\LogoIntro.avi movie by editing the ..\Auran\TRS2006\trainzoptions.txt file to add the line: -intro=disable Bob

Why not boot up Google Earth and try the first bit. Zoom into the start of your area at 500m and then place a placemark, and name it "1", hit CTRL+S to save the current screen, and then hit ALT+CTRL+S to save the Placemark. That part of the task takes 10-20 seconds, so it's not too bad. The next part of the stage you'd need to purchase TransDem. In TransDem you'd then hit: SHIFT+O (Load the Google Earth image) - couple of seconds ALT+R ( Load the Google Earth placemark) - couple of seconds SHIFT+U ( Convert to UTM) - between 5 and 10 seconds to complete ALT+S (Saves 2 files that TransDem uses in the final stage when it creates your route in Trainz) - couple of seconds As you can see, converting to UTM takes the longest, and when you have a load of them to do, that's the one that becomes the bottle-neck. I did all the Google Earth stuff first and only when I had all the pictures and placemarks I needed did I start the TransDem part. You can get free Dem data from http://netgis.geo.uw.edu.pl/srtm/Europe/ If the site is down, try searching on Google for "srtm dem" and you should find a link to the official Nasa site for Dem. Have fun. Smiley.
