Can a scenario be created WITHOUT the ability for drivers to control trains? - Trainz D... - 0 views

The route can be modified if you do want to sit back and watch it all happen under programmed AI. All that you need to do is start at one extremity of the AI route. I'd suggest at Portal cH:

Best process for creating routes - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • 1. Baseboard Layout 2. Track 3. Texture 4. Topolgy 5. Detailing (roads, cities, etc)
  • here's an infinite number of ways to do it, but I generally do it the same way as previously mentioned. I try to work on no more than 3 or 4 boards at a time although I have worked on 10 or 12 at a time. If you get too many boards out there, the task can seem overwhelming and you can easily become discouraged. I usually work in this order: 1. track (fixing spline point elevations as I go) 2. terrain (bringing terrain to track) 3. adjust remaining terrain to my liking 4. add buildings and roads. sometimes bldgs first and sometimes roads first 5. a base texture, usually copied and pasted 6. signals 7. foilage 8. details I find it important not to work in your signalling and test the route out as you work. If you get the route too big before testing, then it can become a daunting task to find problems with your layout.
  • Well, I remeber an old article, but I don't know where it is. This is how I would do it. 1. Terrain 2. Trackwork 3. Roads 4. Buildings 5. Landscaping 6. Textures This is how I would do it. I look forward to pics

My 2.1 cents worth - I like to use existing terain and put on my civil engineering and surveyors hat to find the best locations for tracks and roads. I leave the grey with yellow grid during this process as it helps me to visualize the nuances of the terain. Once track and roads are down, I texture the roadbeds. (And don't forget all the foreign roads that cross your railroad and provide interchange traffic.) Next I place depots, terminal faciilities and industries. Next comes signalling At this point I have an operational railroad. I can choose to run trains or work in adding details. __________________

Saving trackmark sequences? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • In the schedule Library rule you give a name to the first schedule then place all the driver commands for that section of the route you want it to take. This includes all industry or stations plus trackmarks. (Make sure you have the drive via or drive to trackmark commands ticked in the driver command rule) Select the next/add schedule give it another name etc etc. One of the driver commands is copy commands from. Place this in your selected train, even ones created in a portal, and you will get a second menu appear with amend or insert. Highlight one and another screen appears which you select to copy from another train or from the library. Pick Library and you get a list of all the routes you put into it. When AI gets this command he will then follow the route in the library.

Creating & Saving a Scedule in Driver - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Top left of screen, in dropdown surveyor menu select edit session, then in new window select driver commands, in next new window click on add then scroll down till you find schedule library select it and click on the green tick. You will also need the (copy commands from) command found the same way. Don't forget to name and save your schedule so you can recognise it next time you want to use it
  • Append attaches commands after commands that are already in the driver's command line, insert places a whole string of new commands.
  • I don't have TS2009 yet but since no one else has tried to help yet i'll give it a go. Once you have loaded the map you want you will have to place at least one loco before you can start a schedule. Placing the loco should aut
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • May I add a little note re the "append" and "insert" selection. I have used this method a few times and found some interesting results when applied to different types of Schedules.

Yard Problem - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Have you tried this template? http://members.westnet.com.au/nightc...template01.jpg Do a search on the DLS for CS_Yard and you will find it, CS_Yard Template_1 (KUID: 37522:9972). Lay your track along the template, then use the "straighten track" tool on the section in yellow sections like so, you will end up with this... http://members.westnet.com.au/nightc...template02.jpg I use this one all the time to create yards.

New Route on DLS - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Hello Everyone, My route, Camp 6 is now on the DLS. Camp 6 is a kind of a demonstration route to show what logging was like in the Pacific Northwest, USA. The route is only one baseboard and is 36 ng. I have not been to Camp 6 in over 3 years and I created this from memory.

Industry Training Session? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • I suggest the first thing you do is to search on the Download Station for "Products". When you do this you will find heaps of different things that can be carried. At the same time you will find a lot of "Industry Tracks" available as well.
  • Another suggestion I would make is that when you are building a route, add a spare baseboard to it. On this place some tracks that you can put your choices on and you can also place buildings etc so that you can just go there and click on the item with the get selection in the flyout and you have your modified unit to place at other spots. I found the best way is to just try things out, if it works ok then keep a noteboke and jot it down for future reference.
  • For example using a built-in industry, the coal mine. I create a consist of different hoppers that can carry coal on a empty track. Then using the Get Consist button in Consist mode, I save the consist as Auran Coal Mine - Coal. This gives me a ready made consist to place on any route

Two Questions. 1.Sound... 2.LARS - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Your cattle question...the reason you can't send your AI driver to the packing plants is the way the layout is setup for the Class 1 trains that are running. If you look at the layout in Surveyor you will see that there are direction arrows so they keep to their tracks. What I did was save the layout under a different name and do away with the Class 1(remove the portals) and use the tracks for normal dual track setup. Remove the direction arrows and sort out the signals and you have a great railroad freight system that can run from one end of the layout to the other with a number of consists at the same time. I still keep an original version of the layout because I enjoy doing the great sessions that Phil has created. There is a flour hopper on the DLS, VR VPFX kuid 2:1854:1596:1 O So Lite. There is also a plain one, kuid 2:1854:1595:1. Another hopper you might find handy is the VR JX kuid 50567:108979
  • I'll try to work more with that Beth gondola 86311:999116 and looking at the config.txt, although I think I'm not informed enough to understand that stuff yet, BUT maybe I could understand it!

Portals puzzle - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • The alternative (if you must have that particular make up of train) is to investigate the rules that are available on the DLS. If I remember correctly, either the Central Portal Control (CPC) or UnPortal Rule can create a train at a trackmark without using a portal.

You need sounds? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Hi all. I am a lover of sounds which locomotives make, and that's why I love recording them. I also use (with permission) sounds from YouTube to create my assets. And now, I'm offering my services to you. If you have any requests for horns and/or enginesounds from YouTube, then I'll do my best to give you them. Any requests people?

Any TransDEM users out there? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • how do you get transdem. The website does not say much and what to download or how to buy it? Send an E-mail to geophil Here: info@rolandziegler.de and he will send you info on purchasing Transdem. Regards, Joe
  • Starting on page 34 there is "Tutorial 1: Using the TransDEM Trainz Exporters" which gives you step-by-step instructions to create a Trainz route from the DEM and map data, including the "track-laying" option.

Commands when there are no suitable trackmarks - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • I'm aware that someone created an 'invisible wagon' to trigger level (grade) crossings. If it's freely available that might be an alternative. It's KUID2: 209453:99991:1 on the DLS
