I think this will help me be a better teacher because along with videos, this link has games that students can interact with and learn from. By doing something that is fun, like playing games, students will be more willing to make the effort to complete assignments.

Often we search for meaningful ways to integrate digital technology in project based learning activities given to our students. We also would like our students to develop a thorough understanding of the concepts underlying the work - after all this is the purpose of the project. Giving students the opportunity to complete and present their project through a digital lens has one great advantage - student engagement. This in turn causes students to develop a more in depth understanding of concepts.

I found this blog under the list of Edublog award winners and thought it was really interesting. It has posts everyday for new ideas for using technology in the classroom. For example, for today there is a post about Gapminder, a type of graphing technology that can be used for lesson plans, quizes, and animations. I also really like this blog because it gives links to each application and then has a whole section on how it can be realistically applied in the classroom.

An interactive White Board (IWB) or SMART Board has the potential to deliver content better than traditional methods of teaching. Why? Because it provides multi-media functional interaction across audio, video, and computer media. It is also ideal for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. These qualities of an IWB also promote the dynamic delivery of content (if used to its full potential) in an engaging manner, which allows students to interact with science or math content their self. I think this is really neat and I agree with it. My Creative Writing/IB English 11-12 teacher from high school has a facebook page, a personal one, and she is friends with alot of her teacher friends, current students and student alumni. Not only do we get to keep in touch with her, but she also asks our opinion on how to run the class, how to make it better, becuase we have been there before. She has also issued a challenge to all her alumni and teacher friends to keep track of how many books we have read this year, and I am now in my mid-twenties. Thanks to her, I've kept on reading and writing, all because we are friends on facebook.

Free online technologies are changing adult education by offering the ability to use free online tools to support collaboration and completing class work. The list is long in regards to the number of online programs which support adult students in their quest for learning in adult education. The sheer number of these online software programs continues to grow almost daily. A review of several of these programs has narrowed the list down to a few which are beneficial to adult students, because they ease their work load and collaboration efforts with fellow classmates.

How many times have you prepared an updated or new dynamic math or science PowerPoint or Keynote presentation for class and it would not open in school? LiveBinders is a free web 2.0 tool which offers educators the ability to save and organize materials for any class. One advantage of this online service the capability to update a binder anywhere an educator has internet access.

This website has lesson plans, but especially it has tons of web resources. One of the coolest ones I found was http://web-japan.org/kidsweb/, where there are so many resources to use if you were teaching a unit on Japan. That's just one example. There are tons!

State testing requirements

I don't know if anyone else has had trouble finding out what you need to do if you are planning on teaching in another state. This site is the test that Utah uses, but it also lists the requirements for other states' tests and has links to their licensing websites.
