Like everything else on the internet, trying to find something is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. This where the top five search tools become valuable resources for teachers and students trying to find images comes into play. These search engines are specifically designed to search the more than three billion pictures on the Flickr hosting site.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts | Edutopia - 0 views

Example of a teacher using wikis, blogs, etc. with students. 5 minutes. Google docs. Literacy: she shouldn't have to teach terms, they should look them up. Addresses: do I need to know everything as a teacher? Also accessibility in a rural school. Shows disconnected classrooms collaborating together on reports and a wiki.

Unexpected Benefit of Having a Facebook Page for your Courses - 0 views

I think this is really neat and I agree with it. My Creative Writing/IB English 11-12 teacher from high school has a facebook page, a personal one, and she is friends with alot of her teacher friends, current students and student alumni. Not only do we get to keep in touch with her, but she also asks our opinion on how to run the class, how to make it better, becuase we have been there before. She has also issued a challenge to all her alumni and teacher friends to keep track of how many books we have read this year, and I am now in my mid-twenties. Thanks to her, I've kept on reading and writing, all because we are friends on facebook.

Free Technology for Teachers: 5 Tools to Create and Administer Quizzes Online - 0 views

  •
I thought this was an awesome article, because it tells you five tools that teachers can use to create quizzes online. I don't know about you, but to me giving a quiz online sounds ten times cooler and more fun for students than a plan old paper quiz in class. I think this is a great way to use technology to give a quiz to students especially on homework reading. That way as a teacher you can save time in class that can be used for further learning.

I found this useful website that has many links and sources for history teachers trying to incorporate technology into their classes. They seem to provide quite a bit of support. I think I will like this site.
  •
This is a great website for history teachers. It provides a comprehensive guide to teaching history with various types of technology. It includes different links to websites that provide technological lesson plans and activities, most of which I found could be very useful in a history classroom. The site also gives ideas on creating presentations and using multimedia in the classroom. Another great feature the site provides is the ability to discuss and collaborate with other history teachers - it provides blogs, Wikis, and even Google docs.

What does it mean to be a successful science or math teacher? The definition of success is an elusive thing and measured in many ways. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines success as - resulting in or gaining a favorable outcome. This, without a doubt, is your and every other teacher's goal for their students.

Wiki or Blog: Which is Better? - 0 views

  •
Both wikis and blogs provide teachers with a a dynamic process for integrating Web 2.0 technology in their science and math classes. These two types of online tools offer students a more engaging process for learning. Both are relatively easy tools which do not require teachers or students to learn any special program tools or computer skills. Their uses and applications are only limited by the vision and purpose for helping students learn.

man, this is a great idea!
  • This new, expanded definition of literacy includes the development of a set of interrelated skills that include reading, writing, speaking, viewing, listening, and questioning; all leading to the ability to critically assess and use information. We inhabit a world in which information is coming at us in ways that impact all of our senses. Today's teachers understand that giving their students the skills to interpret information, however it's packaged, is also an important part of educating learners who are prepared to succeed in this century's competitive global workplace. Teachers are teaching their students how to evaluate all types of information sources. Whether it's hard text, electronic informational sources, MTV, or a documentary film, teachers are helping students learn to think critically about the information they encounter. So, how does this instruction look in the content area classroom?
