"Along with reading, science, and mathematics classes, every student here at Haut Gap Middle School takes a course in how to be a Haut Gap student. For most students, the class is 40 minutes a day for nine weeks-even for returning students. But it can last 18 weeks for students who need extra time to nail concepts such as how to own up to mistakes, accept feedback, and apologize appropriately."

Despite his circumstances, he became one of the top Chun-Li players in Texas after playing the game for just 6 months, and is also one of the best Super Smash Bros. players in the state. In this interview with Gootecks, Broly talks about how he plays without using his hands, why and how he uses Chun-Li, and his advice for others in similar situations."

Education Week: How to Improve Urban High Schools At Scale - 1 views

  •
"It may be a good time to ask some fundamental questions: Why has there been so little success in reforming high schools? What have the myriad reform efforts to date done wrong? Can urban high schools be reformed at scale-and if so, what works? The answer to that last question is yes-but only under a set of very specific conditions. The Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, where I served as chief academic officer, has created these conditions in its work with a network of 11 high schools and five middle schools in Los Angeles. These schools, all located in less-affluent sections of the city, have dramatically outperformed demographically similar district schools-despite spending $1,000 less per student."

The Center on Technology and Disability (CTD) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The Center is designed to increase the capacity of families and providers to advocate for, acquire, and implement effective assistive and instructional technology (AT/IT) practices, devices, and services. Research-based technologies, used appropriately, have great potential to help infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities participate fully in daily routines; have increased access to the general educational curriculum; improve their functional outcomes and educational results; and meet college- and career-ready standards.

DragonBox+ for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), ... - 0 views

  •
"Many children today struggle with mathematics while other children want greater challenges. DragonBox is a revolutionary game that will make your child enjoy learning mathematics while progressing at his or her own pace. Our intention has been to create a game that children experience as a real game that is actually fun, but where they after one hour of playing, they will be able to solve mathematic equations that they never thought they would be able to solve so quickly before."
