"Not that it matters a lot for MPs and politicians in general, but it's quite interesting that if someone "anonymously" edits a wikipedia article, wikimedia stores the IP of the editor and provides it to anyone that wants to download the wiki archives. If the IP range is known, or someone has the legal authority within a country to force an ISP to reveal the owner of an IP, it is quite easy to spot the actual person behind an "anonymous" edit. But if someone creates an account to edit wikipedia articles, wikimedia does not publish the IPs of its users, the account database is private. To get an IP of a user, one would need to take wikimedia to courts to force them to reveal that account's IP address. Since every wikipedia article edit history is available for anyone to download, one is actually "more anonymous to the public" if he/she logs in or creates a (new) account every time before editing an article, than editing the same article without an account. Unless someone is afraid that wikimedia will leak/disclose their account's IPs."

The ECVET reflector study - 0 views

  •
"The ECVET reflector study was carried on behalf of the European Commission between December 2005 and February 2007, shortly before the ECVET consultation phase. It is embedded in the general objectives of the European Commission and Parliament on enhancing mobility of apprentices (both young people and adults) within VET. The study mandate was to analyse the relationships between the characteristics of the European credit system for vocational education and training (ECVET), as proposed by the European Commission in its consultation document, and the existing regulations and practices of assessment, validation and certification as well as accumulation and transfer of learning outcomes in the national VET and qualification systems in Europe. The aims of the study include: Formulating qualified proposals as to how to design ECVET for possible subsequent implementation throughout Europe in accordance with national and regional rules and regulations; Identifying possible needs for support during ECVET implementation and application; Formulating recommendations for further actions at VET stakeholder levels in national and regional contexts."

Emergent Learning Model | The Heutagogic Archives - 1 views

  •
Emergent Learning Model The ELM is an attempt to take forward the Open Context Model of Learning, which essentially are fresh ideas about how to re-conceptualise the processes of learning by taking account of the affordances of web 2.0 technologies. The Open Context Model of Learning is a way of thinking about the relationships of learning such that a (teacher) develops both a subject understanding as well as an ability in the (learner) to take forward their learning in that subject. That is often taken to mean through classroom interactions, but it doesn't have to mean only that, it could start with learner interactions; conversations, interests and collaboration.

"Vocational education and training, bildungssystem.educa.ch - 0 views

  •
In Switzerland the majority of adolescents commence vocational education and training (VET) after lower-secondary education. There are VET programmes for some 230 different professions. In Switzerland, many professional qualifications are obtained in upper-secondary education, while in other countries the same qualifications are obtained in tertiary level education. The Swiss system with its dual-track VET programmes (apprenticeship) differs from most foreign systems of vocational and professional education and training. VET is predominantly based on a dual system: practical training (apprenticeship) on three to four days at a training company is supplemented by theoretical classes (vocational and general educational subjects) on one to two days at the VET school. In addition, the VET students attend inter-company courses, in which they enhance vocational practical skills. The vocational education and training (VET) can also be completed at a full-time vocational school. In the French-speaking and Italian-speaking parts of Switzerland, the proportion of full-time vocational schools is higher than in German-speaking Switzerland."

STEALTH ASSESSMENT - 1 views

  •
When assessment is seamlessly woven into the fabric of the learning or gaming environment so that it's virtually invisible-blurring the distinction between learning and assessment-this is stealth assessment. It is intended to be invisible, ongoing, support learning, and remove (or seriously reduce) test anxiety while not sacrificing validity and consistency. A good way to describe stealth assessment is with a metaphor.

This project sought to assist partner countries move to EQARF through transferring an online assessment tool, developed on a previous project to meet the needs of EFQM and ISO 9000, and adapting it to the requirements of national and other quality frameworks in use in these countries. By extending an already existing TQM model based on the requirements of both EFQM and EQARF, the ACES solution helps to allow a better approach to benchmarking in the VET sector across the EU. After the piloting of the solutionnacross the partner countries,a number of case studies were written up based on the findings of the testers.

European Commission - 1,5 million more jobs through digital entrepreneurship ... - 1 views

  •
"Only 6% of the adult population of Europe is engaged in a new business, compared with 13% in the US. That's why the European Commission is launching today the Watify platform together with ICT stakeholders. Its ambition? Promoting digital entrepreneurship by taking away these doubts, it's estimated that 1, 5 million additional jobs would be created in the EU Internet Economy, if the entire EU mirrors the entrepreneurship performance of the US or Sweden."
