Western Sydney University Social Media Policy - 2015 Audit is conducted of social media policy every 6 months. Comments must be replied to with 24 hours. Yammer is used as an internal social media network. There are some clear directions for dealing with social media and how to deal with adverse comments. This looks to me to be a good working policy.

While many collections are laudable for the quality of their pictures, metadata, and preservation techniques, they often remain obscure, unknown, and therefore inaccessible to their intended user populations. One of the ways digital librarians can cultivate a broader awareness of their collections is through social networking. More importantly, digital librarians who participate in conversations with users through the use of social media become inextricably intertwined with the knowledge creation processes relevant to their collections. This paper presents a set of five general principles (listening, participation, transparency, policy, and strategy) that provide digital librarians with straightforward, concrete strategies for successfully integrating social media into a digital library's overall strategic plan. In addition to these concrete strategies, I also explain the theoretical importance of each principle and its relevance for establishing a rapport with current and potential users of a digital collection."

This is an example of a very simple policy that establishes purposes of social media and ICT within the school, guidelines for use, expected behaviours and consequences for deviating from expected behaviours. This policy comes in the form of an agreement to be signed by both parents and students to ensure the policy is understood and adhered to. The agreement links to a single page explanation of what the Facebook page is to be used for and the rights of the school to remove content as it sees fit. While not comprehensive, it is a nice, simple policy/agreement that sets some ground rules.

Five themes were extracted from the interview: creating communities, connecting with users, inviting participation, organisational culture and staffing. Only one library had a a social media policy, though this had been developed at the local council level.
