Diigo Question: Viewing Contributions - 14 views

  • Jorge Arganza

I have noticed posts missing from my 'view participant contributions' page, and I have noticed it in one other person's page. It is a bit frustrating!
  • Jorge Arganza

I looked into the one post that is semi-visible, it was posted on June 5th in Meaghan's thread about "danah boyd | apophenia". My post begins "An excerpt from boyd's notes on her speech about "the power of fear in networked cultures" " It is visible when I look at the original thread, but not visible when I look at my participation page. If it is only one post, it isn't too big a deal, but it is something to be aware of.

Shifting the burden of proof in Malaysia - Features - Al Jazeera English - 0 views

  • The purported aim of the revision is to prevent internet crimes and scams by placing the onus on the owner of a computer to which a seditious posting is traced or a website on which a seditious posting has been published to prove that they are not responsible for it. The state argued that tracking down those responsible and bringing them to book had been near impossible due to the common use of pseudonyms and fake identities online.
  •
In Malaysia, the government is making it easier to prosecute internet crimes by placing the burden of proving their innocence on the computer owners.

I am trying to figure out how to use sticky notes in diigo, I am going to post a website here, and put a sticky note on it. I want to see if you mates can see the note. If you can, try putting a sticky on the page also!

I did it! now the question is, will it show up on that page if you go to it by other means and not through diigo. I also found something called the diigo sidebar, that allows one to annotate webpages also. I used to really like delicious, but diigo just took the cake!

I have not tried highlighting yet, I will have to today. What I did with the sticky was, I went to Google, and inserted a sticky set to be visible within the si-summer-2012 group. It shows up to me as a little yellow square post-it style box that turns into my comment when hovered over, but I was wondering if that is the same thing everyone else sees. Maranda, do you have the diigo toolbar installed? That might be why you do not see your highlighting and the stickies.
  • Jorge Arganza

    Maranda,
I went to the website you posted a sticky on- Related Bibliography « Social Informatics Blog- and I can see the sticky you posted. I also see your highlighting, also on the web page itself. When I go to the SI group page on diigo, the sticky and one of the highlights appears. The other highlights appear on diigo's group page, but glitchy.

To share from your library, go to your bookmark library. On the right there is a menu button called View. Click it, and select "Advanced" view. Now every bookmark will have a check box next to it. You can check the bookmarks that you wish to share, then in the "Share to Group" drop-down menu select this group.

You can also share to the group bookmarks from the original URL using the diigo menu bar, or Diigolet, you can find those in the Tools menu.

I have been following Rheingold's work for some time, and I highly recommend falling down through his particular 'rabbit hole' of stuff. He studies online communities and ways in which ICT enhance the individual and the collective group's capabilities.

Is Rutgers having difficulty with ecollege? - 6 views

  • Jorge Arganza

I am having difficulty reaching several websites @ Rutgers, including the ecollege site. The issue seems to be with domain name resolution. I just wanted to ask if this is just me or is it happening to other classmates?

The site is working now, yay!
