I found this article to be very interesting. It supplies tips on bathing for patients that have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. These patients tend to be resistant to a bath but I feel many clients are. When you think about someone bathing you it takes away all your dignity and privacy. This article gives us tips to make this a more comfortable situation for our clients.

This PDF gives information on the procedure of hemiarthroplasty to repair a fractured hip, as well as, great visual pictures of the body positioning during ADL's for hip precautions. I thought it would be helpful for someone like me, as an OTA student to visualize the correct preventative positioning during sitting, lying, driving, bathing, etc.

I thought this was a great list of hip precautions for almost every OT problem area. Including bathing, dressing, sitting in a car... etc.

I found this website when I was looking for ideas on adaptive equipment project. There are a lot helpful tips that anybody can use to assist themselves with daily activities, such as preparing food, hygiene, computer use, bathing, etc.

I love this lady! She is an OTA who has a lower extremity amputation and allows the viewer to see the real life struggles in a first person point of view. She gives good advice for safe showering/bathing and points out different ways for different people. Lastly, this video will help home health OTA's to know what an amputee may need to make life easier (stand up shower vs. bathtub).

This is very good website that describes most common types of burns, how to prevent burns, legal rights of the person with burn injuries. It is unbelievable that about 450,000 Americans receive medical treatments for burn injuries each year and that the most types of burns are preventable. Absence of smoke detectors and using alcohol while working with flames are the most common types. Occupational therapy for burn patients can help patients reacquire the skills needed to perform daily tasks independently (dress, groom, bathe and cook) and provide advice for patients how to accomplish daily tasks and prepare them to return to work or school.

When a person experiences a tendon injury in the hand that affects the ability to flex or extend the hand properly and in a safe way, he or she likely will have a difficult time completing everyday tasks, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, using the bathroom, and attending to chores at home and at work. This could be a wonderful handout to someone who has had surgery or experiencing these same issues.
