Rotator Cuff Tears: Frequently Asked Questions-OrthoInfo - AAOS - 0 views

  •
When I have an injury I feel like sometimes I have some really basic question about it and sometimes its really hard to find the answers or takes forever because they arent all in one place. I really liked this article because it has several most common questions asked for a rotator cuff tear! Also it is a good article to read if you would just like to broaden your knowledge of rotator cuff injuries. It covers anything from the cause to the healing process.

Young Adults Living With RA - 1 views

  •
When I saw that we would be talking about RA in class I started looking into it more. My sister who is only 20, was told by her doctor that she may have RA and they are currently doing further testing. At first I thought "there's no way" shes only 20! But then I did some research and found this article. RA is actually fairly common in young adults, especially women. More specifically, there is a 1 in 714 chance for a woman in her 20s to develop RA. This article goes into more detail about these statistics and the cause.

I read in a Health magazine just last night that taking or if you have taken birth control pills, it helps guard against RA.

Foundations of Edema Reduction - 0 views

  •
This is a very detailed article addressing edema reduction. I found it helpful because it did not just state ways to reduce edema but it always described the etymology of it as well. I found it helpful to read the etymology and get a good understanding of it because it helped me to better understand why these named techniques helped, instead of just taking someones word for it. Its not too long but contains very good information!

I really just skimmed through this since, like medical coding, reading policies is not something that I want to do. Regardless, there are some interesteing things I saw in this policy and may be a good go-to document.

hemiarthroplasty - 3 views

  •
This PDF gives information on the procedure of hemiarthroplasty to repair a fractured hip, as well as, great visual pictures of the body positioning during ADL's for hip precautions. I thought it would be helpful for someone like me, as an OTA student to visualize the correct preventative positioning during sitting, lying, driving, bathing, etc.

At The Lighthouse Communities, 'It's Never 2 Late' For Seniors To Go High Tech - 3 views

This organization meshes senior living with computer technology individualized for seniors. This is a cool idea and incorporates physical exercises in the system as well as social and cognitive stimulation. I believe it's a great innovative way to keep the aging mind stimulated and in touch with family and friends.
